I got just a voicemail for a City driver position at UPS in the Heavy Freight Division. I'm wondering if this is a union job or not. or if anyone knows what the City drivers starting wage is, being city I'm assuming its hourly? Thanks

Ask if it's LTL or the truckload division. LTL is union truck load isn't.

If it is Freight LTL......Ask them to be upfront with you too and explain the good and the worst case scenario.
Our TM promised the world to a newbie. Told him he would be working 40-50 hours a week as a 10%.
Sugar coated the poop so much he ate it up, he gave his previous employer a 2 week notice to come on board.
Mind you, he has a mortgage, car payments and kids.
Since being hired....he has worked 1 day a week for the last month.
He was forced take a withdrawal from his 401k to survive the month in hopes of a turnaround to see the 40-50 hours the TM promised him.
He worked more days in "Training" than he did actually working. He was so pissed off that they starved him and he had to withdraw retirement money to survive that he quit and went back to his former job.

So in the end for anyone else....get the worst case scenario. Talk to other drivers that you might meet as they are more inclined to tell you the truth.
These forums also help tremendously.

Yeah, Im going to pass on the job anyway. I interviewed with the TM he was basically clueless or giving really evasive answers. He didn't really know the hourly pay and correct pay increases. He also said that you have to pull a stack of doubles on there drive test even if they know you never pulled doubles but the test proctor will help you...I know why they are hiring, because they have guys go on vacation during the summer and after that the newbies are screwed.
