Yellow | the exodus

I think what's happening at YRC is that a lot of drivers (and dock people) are looking at it as "any job is better than no job" and bailing out while there are still other freight jobs out there to be had. For some at YRC, that choice is impossible for a lot of different reasons, so they stay, and will till the bitter end. But there are a lot that can "jump ship" now that there are still some other freight companies hiring. They may not want to but they are being realistic. What happens when and IF YRC or the entire YRCW shuts down? I know that's a big IF.......but the reality is IF they do close, there will immediately be up to 26,000 freight people competing for and fighting for the same limited number of jobs in the freight industry. It will be ugly. Is it better to go now (if you can) and take another job, even if the benefits are less and the conditions are not as good, or wait for what seems inevitable. It's a tough or impossible choice for some to make.
Going back to the "sinking ship" analogy, is it better to wait on the badly listing ship for a miracle to happen and the "leak" is fixed or is it better to get on one of the last few lifeboats that are leaving the sinking ship before there are no lifeboats left? That is a choice each person has to make for themselves.
Henry, I hate to say it but with in 6 months or less freight will have settled down, accounts spread out among the doors that are still open, & the question will be YRC who. Within 3 months with CF all the freight had been spread out among the survivors and freight was moving & a lot of driver/dock positions filled. Yea, some lost, some gained, but as big as CF was, their demise was just a small little blip on the radar screen. von.

Weekends
All Holidays
14 hour days
No life do the math
HOS whats that ?
I know the math.. you would have to be working yard or dock on your other 2 days. Yrc may do some stupid stuff, but letting a driver out on the street over hours puts them, and the driver in big trouble, especially if there is an accident. cannot believe anyone working 7 days consistently....

Happens every day at 881 you write your own pay check.
Lots of brown nosed members moved in here on the merger and the ones who would put a stop to it have retired or moved on to ABF.
Just wondering if the E- Log will crimp their style ? With the turn over in managers here the little things are over looked but maybe they just don't know.

Then after you work 60, Monday -Friday, and both weekend days, you would have no hours to work Monday.. you would then need 2 days off.

It's what they do. Usually Friday-Saturday off. Started on a Sunday as for getting hours going.
E logs will stop the Ot whores.
Personally I don't care.
I don't want anyone "HURT" by some one on excessive overtime.
Some may know why I put it like that. Not gonna explain.

I used to drive and work in the oilfield back in the early-mid eighties.
60 hours tripped overtime. So everyone tripped overtime like it or not.
80-90 hours was normal.
I got 120 hour paycheck one week. It wasn't all driving. But I was in the clock the whole time and never went home until the job was done.
Wouldn't - couldn't do it now.

Don't go getting soft on me....I got lots planned for Team BRG-Wong soon...
No need to worry about our hours BD. Wong and I each log around 8 per day ourselves, then we log in our "phantom " driver for 8. Our third is really a janitor at CRST's home office. This way we can also get 4-6 hours on the dock in Dallas when we have to wait, but only if they have portable lights..

Maybe so, but you have to remember there were a LOT more "survivors" yet when CF folded.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you can also be on a 70 in 8 so If you drove and worked, say 65 hours Monday through Friday and never went over 11 hours of driving you can reset (34 hours )over the weekend and start driving again Monday legally according to dot.

It's the union that doesn't recognise the reset and adheres to the 60 in 7 rule, so I'm told.

They can't even work the dock.
Now. Dock only they can work all they want on the dock.
Unlimited. Except for just flat out running out of days.
Me. I'm out the gate in eight.
