FedEx Freight | new Estes trailers in ATL

I heard BillyLo was investing in a new startup company of self driving trucks calling itself Buuber???

Ive only been with Fed Ex for 26 years. Its the first time Ive seen this.
Like was stated above R, this practice has been around forever. Saves the company who owns the trailers from paying to rail them, or end up with too many tractors in the area where the trailers are destined

Yup. There are images all over the place of new trailer moves in progress. Yellow used to be a popular one for it. I've seen pictures of Reddaway (prior to the YRC purchase) pups, ABF pups, CF (before they went under) pups and even FedEx Freight West pups pulled in Yellow sets.

Just because you've never seen FedEx be the carrier doing the moving doesn't mean it hasn't been happening all around you for years.

Unless it's a coast to coast move of new equipment, we generally use our own trucks to move new trailers. I can remember on several occasions where I've taken a set and met a driver bringing me a brand new 48 footer for our city operation loaded full of hub freight.

The world has gone mad

Gonna start seeing some of those up here next week. Dunno how we're gonna get them, but Estes wants their freight to move on their equipment. Speedy's already asking around for guys willing to pull sets for a bit of a pay bump.

I put in for it.

Was told we are loading new Estes trailers with our freight to send west via the rail. Interesting.

Saw a FedEx Ground tractor and PUP pulling out of a city pickup that FXF usually does today. Surprised the hell out of me.

Don't even know what to make of it.

According to one of our drivers that runs ATL. They are coming in from out west loaded with our freight. We unload them and estes comes and gets empty. I don't know if we are picking up their new trailers for them, and FedEx has worked out a deal to load them and get them to where estes needs them. All I know is we had one in ATL packed with Nashville freight. We pulled it to Nashville and unloaded it and Estes came and picked up empty.

It would be awesome if management would give us a little info so this thread wouldn't be needed, but anyone that has worked here for a minute knows that won't happen till they actually think we are worried about it!
