What do you think it will look like? What do think will change? What will improve? are you optimistic? If so why? If not why not?

I have heard reports from mgmt saying XPO is upsetting some of our customers. The mechanics tell me that it has become more difficult to obtain and stockpile truck and trailer parts. The Be a Hog contest seems to be related to increased damage claims. Seems as though XPO wants to increase trailer tonnage and reduce damages at the same time, same as Conway did. What they cannot seem to figure out is that the two goals are incompatible. We either increase tonnage or reduce damage, but not both. They are getting a lot pickier about seat belts on drive cam footage, so I was told when I was coached about it for removing the seatbelt before I backed into a dock that was located next to the street. Earnings are up and OR is down, but that's not the whole picture. What I do know is that I wanted to work for Conway when I hired on and that was taken from me, that's where my loyalty was, not so much for the new, XPO.

Your spot on with the main focus on trailer utilization. They are focused on load factor and soliciting heavier freight. From what I see damages are on the increase and the does not see to much focus on it. I think it's a number of factors in combination :
Inexperienced dock workers with high turnover.

Load factor over everything .

Poor supervision.

They are continuing to looking at taking out cost in the operation. I hope this doesn't affect are maintenance and operations any further.

Everyone seems to be pessimistic throughout the system. I hope at some point they engage with employees at some point. They have not seen this as important and I think their missing the mark completely with this. There seems to be optimism at Brad Jacobs level but it ends not to far from there.

It's going to be everything he said it is going to be. All you had to do was listen. And look. It's all around you every day/night.

They are going to move away from unprofitable freight. I heard they recently told Amazon to go frak themselves. It doesn't matter how valuable the customer. If it's not making money. It's gone. Be it the account, the line haul lane, the terminal, what ever. It must make money or it is gone.

He going to make us ( the former Con-way ) much smaller. Even Con-way always said we could make more money doing less. Reduce the size and scope of this nightmare and pocket the money. That is, of course, his one and only goal. The bottom line above all others. So reduce the number of drivers and office help and management. The number of trucks and trailers and property. Lowering costs will increase profits.

Move away from next day and two day freight. You know why the former Con-way has the most next day and two day lanes ? Because it's a bad investment. It's because the bigger fish out there in the freight world have more profitable freight to haul. It's not because Con-way out competed anyone for the freight. It's because Con-way chose to do business in a space that offered lower returns. Rough numbers. The rest of XPO has an OR ( operating ratio ) of 50. The LTL has an OR of 90. Even if the LTL turned stupid numbers and ran an LTL industry crushing OR of 75 it would still be a terrible investment with a poor return compared to the rest of the company's OR of 50.

Less line haul. A lot more vans. And not all of them are subservice anymore. They are 3PL though XPO.

More part time and full time dock hands. Why pay us drivers to work the dock ? Most guys stand around bullshitting and doing a whole lot of nothing. The scanners track everything. They know we are not worth what they pay us to work the dock. A mountain of evidence has been thrown in their face. Drivers on the dock is not a profitable scenario. With the roll out of the e-logs and the unification of a network that tracks and pays our wages, drivers may very well be out of in-bound and hostling bids. As the electronic infrastructure is stabilized the argument against the most expensive piece in the XPO LTL network will be to great. Rather than try and implement some sorta way to punish or eliminate poor performance. They will likely push drivers to the streets and handle any discipline issues or blatant laziness in that arena. Long lunches and excessive dwell time and being out of route will be recorded and easily viewable from the dispatch screen.

I don't understand how this is still a thought. Con-way is dead. Voting a union won't change that for you. And the union isn't going to tell him to run his company the way Con-way did. Changes are happening because they need to and they have to. WE ARE XPO. Like it or hate it. You can do something about it if you want. Plenty of trucks with empty seats. Ain't nobody forcing you to be here. If you are interested in staying you had better get used to seeing things change. Jacobs and his team are back to looking for more merger and acquisition targets. The changing regulations governing the trucking environment in this country are going to lead to further consolidation. This will only increase the value of XPO. And this will increase the size of the fat check Jacobs gets when he sells this hot mess off. My two cents anyway. Heavy sigh.

Earnings are up and OR is down. That is all that Jacobs sees. Results matter to XPO.

Yep, they are a group of engineers that are going to ruin this company.

Is the stock price really up that much? When he bought us it was 47 and change Xpo was around 50 and then it went down hill but has rebounded back to around there original price. So is really up. Why didn't he let the employees by into it

You basically describe UPSF. Though we do also haul a lot of trash. But, they claim they are making money with it. Freight levels are up as well as profits, but we have not had any expansion in years. We also run more 53's than pups now too. Watch your linehaul get taken away and given away to contractors.
