This past Friday at work reminded me of a thread I put on here approximately 2 years ago. On that Friday we had to just quit loading and go home for the weekend because it was raining hard that night and we had ran out of trailers that weren't leaking. We left a lot of freight on the dock to sit for the weekend, but it was better then loading it and letting it become damaged by the rain. This past Friday the same scenario only the trailers were leaking worse then they were 2 years ago. Some of the trailers had huge puddles in them. Did we leave the freight on the dock to load Monday to prevent damage? No, we loaded to every trailer regardless of condition or how wet the freight was going to get. We did try to cover up some of the freight that had a direct downpour on them with plywood or cardboard. We would have lost every customer we have if they had seen what we done. Management showed how little they cared and how there hasn't been any motivation by management in the past 2 years to improve anything. I'm not sure what's deteriorating faster the condition of the equipment we need to do our jobs or the morale of the employees. There's no way this company will succeed if it continues to go down the path it's currently taking. This once proud company is not so proud of itself anymore.

When I started with Roadway in 1981 it was the same thing. The dock was just flatbed trailers chained together. The roof only covered half of the dock. When it rained the freight got wet. The city trailers were all old Western Gillette 27' pups that leaked. Management didn't seem to care back then either.
