ODFL | Collision Mitigation System (CMS)

In freezing weather, fog or certain traffic there's no way in hell I would use cruise anyway

When temps are above freezing the brakes will come on even without cruise. Driver I know tells me all the joys about his. OD's are the same setup. Suppose to even beep at you when you're tailgating. I can see why OD went this route to help a lot of drivers text easier while driving their equipment.

I can take a nap, drink a beer, be entertained by your posts and still move freight. I think it's great. I feel so sad for you. You actually have to work, while line sits back and enjoys life. Hahahaha. :1036316054::poke:

Line sits back and gets fat. I'm not one looking for the easiest way out in life. I enjoy a challenge. Even in my spare time I built my own house overlooking the lake and my horses out in the pasture. Do all my own repair work on my auto's. Nothing in life ever come easy for me, I'm a self made man and helped put OD where it's at today.

That's good. I wish more people had that attitude. To many welfare people out here today. They think they deserve the benefits without the sacrifice. Damn, I have horses too. All of us that bust our butts are the reason that OD is where it's at.

Like I said, the hard brake feature doesn't work in below freezing temps. Pass the word around before drivers start making up false scenarios.

Just like it is suppose to work perfectly all the time huh Billy?. It screws up now and it MAY do it when there is snow, ice or even wet roads after the rain in a long time. Now before you feel the need to lecture me, I realize it is not suppose to, but no one can guarantee it will not malfunction, hence it being called a malfunction! :smiliepostwhore:

Like I said, it won't work in freezing temps. Also you'll have slush built up on it that the function will fault until you clean it and restart your truck. Quit being a crybaby. Everything OD put on their trucks has been well proven.

The crybaby remark coming from you? You cry more than a women on her period that just killed her dog. Id love to meet you in person cause im sure your just like that big line driver that his name starts with an A. Think about it, its not hard to figure out.

You young drivers get so upset when us old timers school you. Just deal with it and drive the truck. You get paid 6 figs do what you're told, not to call the shots. You're just a line driver and CRST can do the same job you do.

That's some funny stuff.

That's what I do. Drive, move freight so you city boys can deliver. Six large please. No you call the shots. Hahaha. And no CRST can't do what I do. Hell they can't keep one box between the lines, how they going to keep three between the lines.

We've had a couple malfunction. It's believed to be the radar misaligned and bouncing off something metal thinking you are about to have an instant collision. One was believed to be a sign the other a metal seam at a bridge. In those cases the brakes put them in the windshield. Others have said theirs has started beeping and went to a red screen showing a collision was about to happen, but luckily it did not brake in those cases. When you google the topic, it's big issue that is known with this system. Someone called Hugh Morris who said in the first batches there were 9-10 known cases of them braking. He called this a small number since we had 1300 of them. I beg to differ because only a small fraction were in service at time, or still are yet to be put in service. I see them as a safety issue. I plan to to cover my back my at least using a dash cam to try and help my case when it brakes or causes and accident and they say the truck says nothing happened. Here's a question...Is it only the tractor brakes that is applies? Because I played with one on cruise and that's what it feel like. Doesn't feel like trailer brakes are used by the system. If that's the case, it sure sounds safe. Sarcastic. I'm also finding and hearing issues with the brakes, where when you apply brakes with decent force the steering wheel wobbles like crazy. Something has changed in the steering or suspension so that you always feel heavy ot top heavy. The only thing good is the new seat.
I experienced something new today. Semi in front of me was going slower than me. I was closing on him, 235 ft, it was green and clocking him at 70 mph. Cruise was on, I had to apply the brakes. Hmmm. Unlike what Billy says, we do have malfunctions.

Our guys sure can't do it with all that texting and driving. If you ain't making six figs here running triples you're doing something wrong.

Billy sleeps with his hands under the covers, you gotta cut him some slack.

At six figs you'll drive whatever OD puts in their trucks. We probably got some dumb college kid in nc that never drove a truck having every snake oil salesman wine and dine him to add this crap into our equipments. We'll have cameras within 5 years I promise.

Good lord, why do the old timers bring up texting so much? Do your thumbs not work, you jealous? These Freightliners are junk, but yes we drive them for 6 figures ....next. The thread was started because there are valid concerns and proven malfunctions. Just a good ole FYI topic to share and be aware. Billy gonna fold it up while driving with one hand drinking a coffee when it locks up on him in the snow, cursing the youngins texting. : )
