I'd like to know who wrote this also. One thing said is UPS Teamsters are the most abused workers but every UPS Teamster I have ever talked to loves it there, and I don't know of any quitting and going elsewhere. If they're so abused why do they stay?
Their not Leaving because they make $36.77 and hour and have a pension and fully paid Medical benefits. Its simple as that. It would be the same at Xpo if that were the case.
The LTL industry created the mess its in now with driver shortages. They all want something for nothing.

AMEN brother

One of the biggest anti-union lies out there is that the Teamsters just need new membership to prop up failing pension plans and the members have no control or say in this.

That's not a lie, it's a reasonable hypothesis. The Teamsters have multiple pensions that are in serious trouble, and the only real options to bail them out are a big infusion of cash from the government or new employee contributions. Maybe it's unlikely, maybe they swear on a gilded copy of the NMFA that they would never do such a thing, but it's not impossible. The fact that they are going after the looooooong odds at the two biggest non-union LTL carriers supports the idea this is all about the money and not about us poor, abused workers.

And even though we've covered it over and over, I'll go ahead and repeat it. You are not in control, your bargaining agent is. If at any point they want to stop taking your advice and direction, they can. It's not a lie to say that's a possibility.

Using the word "lie" is an appeal to emotion - it furthers the cause of damaging the credibility of your opponent, so it's very popular on all of your posters, banners and headlines. What you're describing isn't a lie.

Every time someone puts this out there it proves their either ignorant to the facts or their doing for a reason.

Hey now, let's have some respect for our fellow drivers. Maybe you've forgotten already:
...a little friendly advice as another driver I would refrain from calling your fellow workers IGNORANT. I regardless of you agenda here it doesn't look good Just because someone holds an opposing view.

If you're going to be sanctimonious, at least be consistent.

Thank you serene gene, I think you about covered everything I was going to reply.

I'm not against unionized labor, I don't trust the Teamsters union to do right by anyone but themselves. That's their recent track record. To top it off once deregulation occurred organized labor lost their grip on the industry. Now if there were to be a renaissance in the labor movement with a completely new union that solely represents the LTL industry I might be a little more receptive.

I think you would have the support of lot of people.

So, Is that ok with you? There still could be defined pensions XPO makes plenty of money to pay for it
Pensions. When Hostess closed they took 6 million of the pension money & used it to pay a bonus to the managers that stayed to help close the company. A Federal Judge ruled that Hostess DID NOT have to pay the money back. Legal theft of a retirees money by a company. True story. The fact of this case are on line. So, once a again I will say 'What Pension. There is no pension that is safe. The laws of this country favor Business & they will take your money if they legally can. And maybe take it if they can't do it legally. The money is not there for your retirement check to clear the bank. Pension? Yea, right. von.

I was wondering if you could explain to everyone here how the union leadership can direct our money being it dues (federally audited) or contractually agreed upon and directed retirement money and funnel it into and ailing pension fund? I'm particularity interested In the government rules that allow this to be done. (in detail how this could legally be done)

Thanks in advance for your response.

Just to give everyone an update on whats going on whats happening at Laredo ,Tx. The companies objections to their vote has moved on to the United States Supreme Court after the company lost in the Lower Court. The court is determining whether it will hear the case or let the Lower Courts ruling stand. If the Lower Court ruling stands then Laredo will move forward to bargaining. There is bunch of nonsense made up stories so hopefully this will lay some of that to rest.

Again like i have said before please do not take everything you hear on this site or through the Line haul system as gospel. Do your own research and question what you hear or read there are those who are misinformed and then there are those who purposely put out falsehoods to confuse you. Everyone's an expert but the truth is very few are involved in any of the process .
Thank you!
