ABF | Retired

Do you have a movie company somewhere around there? I'd check with them first.

Yeah,....I did. They had the circus animals, the thunder machine, some flying monkey props,...... but no thrones. Fresh out. Something about all the politicians renting them years at a time....

Okay, this is it. My last day. I'm going in, drink coffee, eat doughnuts........collect my retirement set of doubles,....... come home about noon and spend the rest of the day playing with my new truck and avoiding mowing the lawn....

Hey! I'm retired........ I'll get to it whenever.........

Good working at ABF. All in all, not a bad company to spend my last 25 years in.

Of course I'll still post on here......... what else would I have to do at 5:30 in the morning?

Good luck to all you gentlemen on here........ I hope you guys get a great contract next year. I'll be working with Local #30 on their proposals. Last time we presented 47 proposals, and not a single one made it to our contract....... mainly because our so-called Two Man committee was struck dumb by the power and majesty of her boss , Mr. Hoffa, and forgot to present them to the negotiating committee......

Ain't gonna happen again........

Gotta go now.... I hear Sears is having a sale on polyester pants, belts and suspenders, and flat hats......I better stock up....
Ya know Canary, spending you retirement time helping the Local in trying to get a new & better contract is one of the finest things I have heard of. In fact, the only person I know that is even remotely doing something like that. Every little thing helps. Keeping a contract going that is half way decent to the worker on the dock or on the road I think helps stable the work force labor for the company but the company itself. If ABF were to close regardless of the reason, it would have a devastating effect on the money paid to the retirees, regardless who they worked for. For your effort I say thank you. Keeping ABF working & the rank & file paid a decent wage for their work is critical. And it is not an easy goal. Anything less might result in a CF all over again. Enjoy your time off. von.

Would this suffice? It looks like it's even cheaper than renting. I'm sure that ABF will grant you a yuuuuuge discount on transportation to your establishment in SW PA.

Thank you, Sir. Being retired doesn't change me being a Teamster....... I am grateful for the negotiated benefits I am now enjoying, and realize that if there were no Unions, there would be no retirement....... Affordable retirement, that is......

On a daily basis, I hear people say they have to " work until they die..." which is funny to say until you turn 50,...... then it ain't so funny, and you realize how much abuse of workers is taken for granted in this country, and other Third World countries......

We have the Freedom here to be able to join a Union and speak up,...... but no one tells you that you've got to fight tooth'n'nail on a daily basis to KEEP that right.....

If they can shut you up, make you shrug your shoulders, and walk away,...... then you still have the Right of Free Speech and the Union membership........ but you have it in name only. An unused Right is the same as having no Rights........

I'm going to use ALL my Rights until they pry them from my cold dead hands........

My wife recently said that she'd consider it an "honor" to he able to work until the day she died.

I'm not a fan of my wife some days. Lmfao

And I'm sure they'd be honored to have her that long,........ and some Wall Street thug would be honored to have her 401 (k) money to play with that long, and Social Security would be honored to just pay out a death benefit, instead of years of monthly checks.

Please accept my apologies for mentioning your wife in the example above. I have a strict rule about never disrespecting someone's wife, not even in jest. I don't think I disrespected her, but just in case the slightest perception is there, apologies are tendered.

In this industry, if they are married to us truckdrivers,........ then they must be saintly people , with the patience of Job, and are due all the honor we can give them........

It's fine. If all goes according to plan, she'll either not be my wife much longer, or dislodge her head.
