Roady, that couldn't have been me sleeping over the wheel. When I was at PIE I was always awake, alert, and looking down the road.

well maybe a good article, but he also could have walked away from the BS as well. this is a problem with many wanting to be thier own boss and maybe have little to NO business sense or education. many times on truckers message boards, many of us (i know i do), recommend that NO ONE sign any lease purchase deals, but not too many listen nor care, they only want to hear what they want to hear, and that is "make the big bucks".

can't say i feel sorry for this guy, in fact i just don't. harsh way to feel about a person?

maybe so, but life stinks, and sucks, and if you do something stupid like take on debt that you CANNOT AFFORD, then screw you.

next, there may be a "go fund me page". is that what it'll come down to, we have to donate to get thier asses out of trouble?

don't look for any donations from me, as i can't afford any more debt myself.
 
Whoa that was a really long read for me.
However very enlightening that these slave tracts are still going on these days.

There was a local non-union LTL in my area way back in the late 70's to early 80's doing this type of thing.
Only a bit different,they'd hire a driver that was willing to purchase a tractor from them.
However they had them sign an exclusive lease where the driver even though he was buying ,could only haul their company;s trailers.
After the driver had made the better portion of payments,this company would start cutting them back on loads.
So they couldn't afford to pay the balance,the company would repo the truck,& fire the driver,then turn around & lease it to the next driver.

Finally one of the drivers turned them into our New York Attorney General,who closed them down.
I never knew if any of the former drivers ever got anything,after working for peanuts & having their credit wrecked with the repo.

but sometimes that tactic of cutting back on loads still exist today. i have read on Prime boards for instance, where at first the new owner gets more freight than he/she can handle, then what seems like overnight, the freight dries up. why? well some say it's to feed the next new lease drivers, and so on and so forth.

it has NEVER been a good idea to lease/purchase, had it been, then ALL the companies that did it years ago, would still be doing it today. as it is, there just isn't as many as there once was, which is a good thing.

the only (what can be considered a good deal), is that one works as a company driver for about 5 years. save up some money, learn the business, maybe even take online courses in business management and accounting.

then pony up the required % down payment, and BUY your own truck outright, THEN lease onto a company for loads. now here too, trailer rentals will get you. then you may be able to haul your own freight, but many times, the owner of the trailer gets "rent" which is reasonable to ask for.

until EVERYONE STAYS AWAY from lease deals, this crap will continue as there are more dummies EACH DAY coming out of the schools and are brainwashed into thinking that they are going to make big bucks, which i one way they do...but then come the deductions for everything.

yeah sure an lease owner may say "he made" $200,000 last year", but almost ALL THE TIME, he never tells you his NET pay after all his bills are paid.

and that's a fact.

There's a reason lease purchases are called "Never Never Plans". You'll never go home and you'll never own your truck. If you go home, you'll never make enough money. If you do ever own the truck, it'll won't be worth anything when you inevitably need to trade it in and start the whole thing all over again.

When you knowingly take advantage of a person, because of their lack of education on the matter then yes it is wrong. Same thing could be said about you and your back, why feel sorry for you, you should have done things differently to protect yourself.

i am not asking anyone at anytime to "feel sorry for me". rather than to equip themselves with some knowledge of what can happen during the process from becoming injured to hopefully a good outcome when it is all said and done.

you have done nothing but try to either discredit me or deny my existence, here on these boards. you are the ONLY ONE here to do so, what's your personal problem "joey"..????

in my "updates" of relating my experiences in a workman's comp claim, my hope is to awaken those here to the possible consequences of either not having an attorney, or not having a paper trail.

some are learning day by day as i am. some respond in questions to get a better understanding of what is going on, no one at anytime has said they feel sorry for me, nor did i ever ask for it.

you also have taken this thread about going bankrupt and tried to use me as your scapegoat for your own personal useage. it just ain't gonna work for me. you lost any debate you wished to have even started.

Yes, it's a L-O-N-G read.

It's sad for those People getting screwed and sad there's no other means of retribution apart from the "legal" approach.

An Eye For An Eye seems plausible however it can be stretched into insanity (rather like the worldwide problems nowadays).

Let The Punishment Fit The Crime is as well plausible yet one need lower oneself to the mental and emotional level of the perpetrator(s) therein subjecting oneself to additional negativity (harm) thus creating a orbit of additional problems (endless till death).

Those MANY DRIVERS are their OWN UNION and as such can stand TALL, if they so choose.

How far does a truck go with no fuel?
How far does man go with no food?
