FedEx Freight | Time has ran out!!

I'm not pro or non, I'm a fence sitter... but other than union dues, what's the big deal if u have a union at your barn? Is it that fedex refuses to bargain with them? Just askin

Fedex is bargaining. That's just it. Why not let it play out and see what's agreed upon?
They're not paying dues. No one does until a contract is ratified. Not one single FedEx driver has paid dues from any of the four centers, which begs the question of why a few drivers are so hard up to have them voted out? What do they stand to gain? What were they promised for their efforts?

It's really not about only dues anymore. There are other things that these 4 centers don't get, that the rest of the company gets. With these outrageous proposals the teamsters want negotiations will drag on for years.

Drastic would be me giving up Mountain Dew and having to drink Sundrop forever......:9529:

How far south do I have to drive to get this sun drop? Right now I'm on a Mountain Dew pitch black kick. I live in the northeast. No sundrop here

So the vacation change for City drivers is a deal breaker? Hardly. You can't miss what you never had. Did you notice the pinned post now at the top of the page? That's what the fight is about. I'm sure we all know someone who could fit that story.

Not just vacation change but you get no equipment, your at the bottom of everything. These are a few things why drivers are unhappy. I hear at CLT that new equipment rolls in and rolls back out and they get nothing just like the other 3 centers. So these things can be deal breakers, but you never know until everybody has walked through the curtain and cast their vote.

Yea, I really don't get it. They act like the Waffen SS have taken over their center. Just a side note, at my barn anyway, a barrage of silly write-ups have ensued as of late and getting a little on the sketchy side. I dunno, just thought worth mentioning and maybe its bigger than my little world and perhaps more systematic

Actually, had a driver tell how unfair the company was just last night. He brought in a trailer with an off the rim flat tire. Docked it without doing any post trip, and the trailer was reloaded outbound and given to some company ******* who insisted they swap out the tire. Shop traced it, ops wrote driver up for no post trip, after viewing yard video where he never did post trip. He now hates the driver who found flat. He says a union brother would've left with the flat and sat on the side of the road to protect his brother from being disciplined for not doing his job.

Sure. That's smart.

I'll respond to your questions while responding to Dick's also....

FedEx has bargained in good faith the whole time, hence no ULP's being filed for that.

"Why not let it play out and see what's agreed upon?"
Let's see...because after a year of negotiations, all they've managemed to tentatively agree to is 19 "things"...19 things we already get, FOR FREE!!! Every healthcare proposal, pension proposal, etc that the union boys have put forward got shot down...BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO LEVERAGE!!!

Dick - "Why are we hard up to have them voted out?"
Lube - "What's the big deal if you have a union at your barn?"
Again, let's see...since the union was voted in we haven't received one new tractor, not one...road or city!!
We have over a hundred city drivers and we maybe have only one or two new X vans but even that was out of necessity.
Since being voted in, GSP was made a mini hub and the union allowed the company (because they couldn't stop them) to move 400K pounds of freight per night to be rerouted to GSP to be worked...freight and extra runs that should be in CLT!!
Since being voted in, the company continues to route freight around CLT...freight and extra runs that should be in CLT!!
Our city drivers don't get the enhanced vacation wage because it must be negotiated...and since we already know they have ZERO leverage, they won't be getting it either...unless they're voted out!!
Job security...the union boys claim they provide job security by allowing someone to attend a disciplinary meeting...how'd that work out for you Dick?? We're land locked and busting at the seams but we'll never be rewarded with a new or more centers in CLT as long as the union is here, they'll just keep expanding the surrounding centers and moving the freight around us!!

"What do we stand to gain?"
Everything mentioned above with the exception of our freight being moved to GSP, we'll probably never get that freight back...and we can thank the union boys for that!!
Job security is growing the company, gaining market share, adding new local centers, adding more equipment, adding more drivers which leads to more seniority....not some bozo watching over a disciplinary meeting!!

"What were we promised for our efforts?"
Nothing...unlike the union, the company doesn't make promises!!

Easy for you to say...

If every FXFE employee gave just $5, he'd have over $200K in the fund...don't need a union for that!!

So I'm curious about something. Anyone know if the union or company will be protesting ballots again, or will they let everyone vote this time?

You missed the point on that one too, but no since in going back and forth on that.

Like I said in the other thread I'm just here to play devil's advocate. It's personal to you all there, not me. I'm just watching the soap opera from the sidelines. There's going to be winners and losers either way and I have friends on both sides of the aisle. No friends at Local 71 though. :17113:

These things that you have reported here would constitute unfair labor practices, IMO, and I don't understand why charges haven't been filed as such.

Almost everything fell under "change of operations" and the union signed off on it because they couldn't stop it!!

The new union lie of the day...now they're telling guys they have a pic of our signatures and that they know who signed our petition!! Really?? When they were asked to show proof of the alleged pic they couldn't produce it!!

News Flash: the signature portion of the process is over and done with, there's no need to bully and intimidate anyone over signatures, they've already been submitted...fools!!

You should meet me at Tony's ice cream. I'll buy you a scoop of the new Sun Drop flavored ice cream. It might calm you down.

All I can say is, God bless Dixie! Big Dave doesn't know what he's missing!
