Yellow | Why Is Central States Still Honoring YRCW "Deal" 6 Years Later?

WHY ARE WE PAYING UNION DUES YET THEN TOO !!! Hoffa & union won't fight for us anymore !!
We all had a chance to vote Hoffa OUT. We failed to do that. We now live with that decision. 18% of the possible 1.3 million members voted in the last Teamster General Election. They almost got him. But people blame Teamsters in Canada. I blame the 82% who for whatever reason, failed to cast a vote. Maybe that is the answer you seek. von.

Maybe most of the members didn't get ballots?Remember it's not just our industry that could've would've should've voted.

Illinois's credit rating may be downgraded to 'junk status'. They said the problem is; their gargantuan pension promises can't possibly be met.

Central States is done. Stick a fork in it. Time to start discussing different options, like a 6% 401k match, etc... If this company can't come up with a viable retirement plan, it's over. You're not going to attract truckers without a retirement package, and, without truckers, there is no trucking company, period. Pretty simple concept.

To put an end to unionized trucking:17113:
He wasn't smart enough to put an end to anything, other than have Yellows BOD, agree to one of the most costly compensation packages ever to someone who was clueless in the transportation business.

By accident or on purpose a lot of people cheered the end result! Just for the record the guy is/was a fing idiot as far as the company was concerned!

So at the end of the day he was smart enough to get what he wanted? $$$$$$

I truly believe the board of directors yellow had at the time did little research, to see actually how credible this clown was. They just hired, and basically agreed to his financial requests. Over the last 40 years, yellow has always seemed to have people at the top shooting from the hip, financially.

Is it time for YRCW to start paying even a little higher pension contribution rate to the Central States Pension Fund? In case you forgot, here's a review of the "deals" made by YRCW and Central States from 2009 to 2011 and the effects on the employees at YRC Freight and Holland...

Because the members feel trapped with no other options. You get what you allow to happen to you. Wake up and realize the Union is not treating you guys any better than the company at this point.

So ar

Are you saying the other 78% or about 900,000 ballots were not sent out? Possible. But not a chance in hell they forgot to mail out 900,000 ballots? The election process is under constant observation by many different people, TDU the Feds & so on. Those ballots were mailed all right, but most Teamsters for what ever reason, did not take the time to vote. von.

It was an assumption. Not a fact.It just seemed something wasn't right. We have all these members in a union and a small percentage voted? Not just the freight industry.
