SEFL | Box trucks

I agree. I don't know exactly what the rate is for a dock worker, but I would expect that to be the minimum starting pay. Never really thought I'd see Southeastern hiring non CDL drivers. Guess that goes to show you how the driver shortages are affecting them. The up side to all of this is, if you're a city driver maybe there won't be as many hand freight stops on your trailers.
Freight hands here start around $20 full time, and work their way up to $23 top out.

I don't think they care about the "driver shortage". Turnover rate is highest I can remember at sefl; not just one barn, but across the board. Let them leave. Sefl just hires them younger and cheaper because a 22 yr old can do more than a 55 yr old

Good luck getting most these young folks off there a$$ and away from the PlayStation and Xbox these days to go hump freight all day long and why would they want to do that when they can make more working the dock
Maybe they want to ride in a truck, who knows? But if they're full time dock, I doubt they have time for Xbox as it is.lol.

Idk some terminals like Roanoke run a double same shift dock so not only do they have the afternoon to play Xbox they also have evening time to play the PS4 lol

So much for straight trucks only used for residential and inside deliveries such as hotels. They're loading them out with general palletized freight here. They're even double stacking skids on them to get more on. I guess if they can do the job for half the money why not right? (Sarcasm)

And the bad thing is, they probably still put house stops and hand freight on the big trailers and the fork lift freight on the straight trucks. Ass backwards, but i wouldn't expect it any other way.

Pretty bad isn't it? I noticed them breaking down two shrink wrapped skids because they were too tall to fit on the tail end of the straight truck but they wanted to pack it full. That's what's ass backwards.

I heard many more of those box trucks are ordered. Did anyone really expect a different outcome? Cheaper labor, cheaper trucks, younger workers= more profit for Cassels Inc. need to speed up this job search

Nope. It's why I made this thread. It was basically a warning to all. We had three more sent to us recently.

Did you think they would not do that them guys are getting fkd as usual cheaper pay and doing more work

Without a serious union threat, why would companies not drop compensation? This has been coming for a long time and will only get worse up to a point. Unions will make a comeback when working conditions force it. I think we are a long way from that point however.

Mention that U word around Tobin and see what happens don't know how long you been at southeastern but Richmond use to have a shop back in the day they went union and the old man came in locked the door on the shop fired every single one of them and Atlanta ATL tried that mess and Tobin and bill told them on the day they were supposed to sign the cards if they did the terminal would be shut down that day

They can't get away with that now. They can bluster all they want, but they can't do it. With the laws these days, and the negative impact on business now that they're a major player, they can't and won't do those things.

Bull mess they can't Lakeville motor express done it last year to 3 terminals that had went union in there system up in Minnesota and out in North Dakota and I don't know how long you been with southeastern I was there 11 years total but that company is listed someway under restaurants or something of that nature and that's how they get away without paying overtime

No, the overtime, or lack thereof, is due to an antiquated exemption for motor carriers from the fair labor standards act. I'm sure the Cassels love these rumors and innuendo instilling fear in the workforce.

I always heard it was listed somewhere up under food service but that is the only freight company I know of that don't pay OT but if you think the union is good talk to them Fedex guys that got it voted in now they are voting it out I worked at Yrc after I left SE and trust me the union ain't what it's cracked up to be and number one is no pension come 2026 in central states health and welfare
