Yellow | Fed Ex votes to Decertify-union

Sorry don't mean to cut in here. But i wanted to get a point of view from you Union people..
Question is?? Do you think the trucking industry would benefit from more trucking companies going union or would it hurt the trucking industry more.
?#2 if more companies did go union would it help the worker's in setting standards or would it lower the standard?

That's a tough question, IMO it would have to be a huge percentage change to really make a difference. If you were talking ten or fifteen percent one way or the other I don't think it would make much difference. But let's say all of XPO and FEDEX both went union how would it effect the industry? I don't know if it would benefit the standards or not, I know I would love to see it happen and find out!

Your going the wrong way on a one way street,:chairshot:Be part of the solution ,not the problem.Your union bashing does nothing for organizing.:fingure:
Roadboss , Union has just rolled over and played dead with yrcw and tell me solution for broke pension and -15% pay & cant hire nobody and my lost 5th weeks vacation and union leaders corruption & stealing our money and see Roadboss how Happy you be when the pension checks stop in about 8 years !!and when more to Roadboss Bite Me :fingure:

Even if the 2 companies you mentioned just had a full company funded 401k,their wages where they are now with yearly raises, not raises based on how well the company performed, and no less health care coverage than right now. It would be a good thing. Because I don't think any union right now, could do them any better.....IMO....

I don't think his question was what it would do for those companies but what it would do for the industry as a whole? I think, unfortunately I am afraid that ship has sailed and the union will never have any control over the industry again, at least not in my lifetime!

Back in the day, trucking companies had "rights" to specific areas and would not strongly object to union demands since they were in many cases the "only game in town" so to speak and would pass on the higher labor costs to the shippers. Now, with full bore competition - and by non-union companies - it's a totally different ball game. Anyone who doesn't see that hasn't been paying attention.

Union is not perfect, but it beats the alternative.
Obviously that would be a matter of opinion and the FedEx drivers in Charlotte have a different opinion on the matter. I would prefer to work union but the teamsters have taken the edge off of the advantage. What we need is a viable alternative to the teamsters and if I was in their shoes I'd be looking at options other than the teamsters.
