FedEx Freight | Think before picking that cell phone up

They don't have to watch every video from every truck or from every 10 hour shift. The fact is not everyone adheres to the no phone policy or the no eating policy and that its simply the law of averages. I bet they can watch 1 ten minute clip from 10 drivers and one of them is doing something that's prohibited within that 10 minute time frame. I will say however that not EVERYONE will be called on their transgression.
You may be right to an extent but even then you're still talking about over an hour and a half of video footage to watch!! I still agree with @DOTFXF, unless an event is triggered, I seriously doubt they're just sitting around watching video footage of us driving down the road while waiting for the sun/moon to be in the right place to produce a reflection in the windshield...just sayin'

Furthermore, if I had a dollar for every one of these windshield reflection rumors that turned out to be untrue, I could've played a free round of golf today instead of having to pay for it!! :1036316054:

Surely someone in safety can spare 90 minutes to fill in their boredom on a slow 8 hour workday occasionally. Don't forget about the camera looking at you on the elog too.

What camera on the elog...the one that most have covered with a sticker??
If not so already it will only be a matter of time before its against company policy to cover or obscure/tamper with any company electronic recording device...Quick everybody to the break room to spend 10 minutes looking up the updated driver's manual !

Well the answer is simple it doesn't have to be triggered for them to watch footage. They can view any drivers camera footage anytime.

I don't know bud that's just what I was told at a road driver meeting by driver and road manager.
Who is the road manager you speak of? What's their company email? I'd like to here it from them. I'm arguing the fact that all of the cameras are always recording and being viewed without a triggered event.

You should quit believe the negatives and start focusing on the positives, you'll be much happier IMO.

Being watched in this industry is not a negative in fact now days it could SAVE your job. The positive is that since now that the OP has enlightened everyone people will be that much further ahead of the curve. No pun intended. This only added to the happiness I already enjoy.

I'm really glad you already enjoy happiness but judging by your previous post on this subject and others, it seems you've focused on the negatives...thus the reason for my comment.
I agree, the use of forward facing cameras don't bother me and could be used to SAVE jobs but there could also be instances where they're a liability for the company...it's a double edged sword.

Let refresh what we've been told about how the system is said to work.

They system records all driving footage. The footage is stored in the truck.

Footage from a "triggered" event is transmitted, "to be reviewed". 10 seconds before & 10 seconds after the trigger. If worthy of followup, it will be sent for domicile location for education/coaching.

If necessary, additional footage can be obtained. I seem to recall the limit for retrieval, before being overwritten, is approx. 7 days +/-.

We also speculated on the potential for remote triggering/capturing/viewing, since the technology does exist.

Since most video, even from triggered events, shows nothing worthy of followup, the likelihood of viewing random non triggered video seem remote. Certainly not viewing it (at will) in the dispatch office...

I agree, do you guys not realize how much footage they would "have to watch" if the cameras recorded all the time?? Do you guys not realize how many drivers we have nationwide and how many hours a day these drivers drive?? It's impossible for them to watch footage from every driver, every day, all day...impossible!!

Sorry Red, but you are wrong, I work part time for the company that monitors these cameras.
We have 12000 employees in this little room, each is assigned a driver to watch, we can blink our eyes no more
than 3 times per min.
Also have pee bottles attached to our legs so we miss nothing, we have relief watchers when we eat our sammage
12 hr shifts with no OT, I think this is BillyLo's reason for turning down this extra work.
We know and memorize every drivers name and also know your bad habits, get out of line, we call your boss
BTW, I've heard thru the grapevine, nose picking is going to be a violation soon.
If I happen to draw your name, I can be bought for a small fee, no citrus flavor.

This is the best and simplest idea, @BumpDraft give us the center and someone can contact them and get to the bottom of it.

Sad part about this is some will actually believe this. Much better effort then your baseball joke...much better .

It's a good thing you only work part time!!

What's required of full time employees...24 hr shifts with OT after 120 hrs, no blinking at all, two pee bottles (per leg), and no sammage breaks??
