ODFL | Wage meeting

They getting over 60 down there at your sister term.Got a driver who transferred and he worked 63 hours last week.I been getting around 55 a week.Had almost 59 in Thurs. when I punched out.Has been crazy.I have made comment's to other driver's about the OT.Just trying to test the water's and they clam shut and don't want to get involved. They are afraid that they will loose hour's if OT rules change.I have just stopped saying anything.I don't agree with what is going on.To me is it worth loosing my job over it? Nooooooooooo!!

Cut hours? What are they going to do stop picking up freight? Hire enough drivers and buy more trucks? Then when we slow down lay guys off and have trucks sitting? Obviously none of that makes sense. That's my point. They need us to work these hours during the busy season and most of us don't mind doing it to a point...BUT there becomes a point when it starts to feel unfair. Your sacrificing so much to help them succeed and they can't throw you a few extra dollars say after 50 hours? It's flat out disrespectful to me.

The small term's will have to pay OT because of less driver's.The Break's have a lot more driver's so they can pull driver's has needed. So the term's can control the hour's.Been with OD long enough to see how they operate. We can agree to disagree and I do not agree with them using a Labor Exemption from the 1930's.They have been using this to there advantage for year's.This is another reason why they can keep there O.R.'s lower than other's that do pay OT.But,on the other side we are driving newer and better equipment than other's,Benefit Pkg is top.Yes,insurance could alway's be better.I have talked with a lot of other LTL Driver's who get OT.They make less a hour than we do and they don't even come close to the hour's we work.So all in all it's what it is for sure. This is a very sticky subject by a lot of employee's who don't care about OT.They would rather know they can get more hour's than worry about a extra $ with OT.

Do you know what Fed Ex, Xpo, Ups Freight and Saia make in your area? In the N.E they are within a dollar with ot after 40, except saia 45.

Yes,We are the highest payed.UPS is about same.Maybe a little more. The rest are $1 to $2 less and they are lucky to get 40 to 45 a week.We are getting at least 50 plus a week.Even when we are slow.We can agree to disagree. But,you are fighting a loosing battle.OD is doing nothing wrong. They are following State & Federal Law's.We all knew when we were hired at OD the OT deal.Well,I didn't when I came off the road to the dock. But,I figured it out really fast when I seen my check.:eek new: I will tell you and everyone else.I would love to open the door for you and everyone else who would like to come to Corp. and discuss the issue with the Boss.Just let me know and I will personally take you over.:1036316054:Like most they are all talk and no action when it comes time to discuss the subject.I've learned the hard way that Employee's will back you and agree. But,when it's time to bring it up in meeting's they all run and leave you holding the bag.

I work for one of the "rest" and have been averaging 55-60 hours per week for years. Most here do. And we get OT after 8 daily. OT does not dictate hours. The work load dictates man-hours needed.

You would think so

You would think so, but I remember being in the city before I went line, and was asked how many hours I had put in and told to go ahead and go home when I said I was already at 55. It was a busy day and I still got sent home. This was early in the morning after I had worked the dock for about 3 hours.

If we have to worry about our jobs then I think we have bigger issues than the matter at hand...

if you do the math with other carriers pay and their ot its only 150 dollars more a week and if you are a P&D driver and need extra money how about run a line haul trip on saturday and make another 300 or more ??? there is always ways to make more here where others if your p&D your not running line haul period .

Stop bitching and get to work

Some of us got lives and families to be with so we'd much rather earn that money during our work week.

That's backwoods Carolina marry your sister type of thinking. The company just needs to do the right thing like the rest of the country does for their employees after 40.

I am saying as a whole some have it good some don't some like a big check some don't , I have a great run , mon-fri no weekends personally I would never work the city , some prefer it . to each is own .

Then you have no right telling then to get off their ass and earn it. That kind of statement is idiotic at best.

again your opinion if your terminal is slow on what ever you do , call central , you can make it up again its getting off your ass if your not making enough *******************************************again general statement**********************

ODFL is grandfathered into this no OT until after 60 , it will never change EVER, everyone knows this when hired start a fuss and the TM will get you out seen it a few times so its deal with it or go to yrc

Really.. They pay OT in Washington and California. What is stopping other states from passing similar laws.

And it will happen. Look at all the min. wage laws being passed around the country. Word about this practice in trucking needs to get out into the public and hopefully corrected by the backwards thinkers thinking some old rule for the railroads should still apply to us.

The funny thing is, people think OD gets to make the rules. They don't realize they just get to follow the rules.
