They are running my mvr and background which is all clear and then I will be doing a road test. To say I am excited is an understatement! I haven’t driven a 10 speed in a couple years. I am considering taking a 4 hour refresher just to sharpen up my shifting. I am wondering what the drive test consists of? If I grind the gears a little bit is that a failure….Any info, tips, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
Good luck to you. Is this a full time feeder position or are you going to be a seasonal. Either way just do your best on the road test. They are not terribly hard. Just make sure you double clutch when shifting. That is how all off the street hires and inside employees are trained to shift. After you pass the road test and get through two weeks of training with an On-Road supervisor you can float the gears till your hearts content. Just don't run over curbs on the test and make good turns. Follow all the road signs, posted speed limits, etc... That test will most likely be done in a 48'ft trailer.

Also in order to make book its 30 WORKING DAYS then probation is over. You will have to deal with a large amount of crap with weird hours. Progression is 4 years and believe me those years don't go by fast. If your in a large hub it won't be bad but will still suck to some degree. You will be called early in the morning or late at night.Good luck to you

How the sleeper teams operate depends on your terminal. By me they generally run four days per week, but extra work is always available.

Starting pay is $0.40 per mile and $18.75 per hour
 
if it is feeder small package and they hire you before nov 1 you are hired not a temp also there is no progression on feeder you start at full scale which is 35.64 in west coast . i am a feeder driver and I also do sleeper teams pay is 84.cents a mile . I am out of richmond ca .
I was hired off the street last peck season.

They were looking at hiring for sleeper teams out of Rockford IL. But I thought it took a long time to get to a good rate? I heard starting rate at 40 sum cents per mile?

Considering our top rate is $.71/per mile, yes .40/per mile is pretty low. Sorry that is Freight rate so feeder in package is a lot more.
