Hey everyone. I'm a long haul driver who recently had back surgery. I am not recuperating well. Multiple physical therapy sessions and I still can't work. I've lost my Workman's Comp benefits and have had to retain a lawyer to help with the legalities. We have no income. My dad recently died, he was a Vietnam vet and was helping us financially. We've basically hit rock bottom. We're being threatened with eviction. I was hoping for some kindness from my fellow drivers. I have started a GoFundMe in hopes of raising enough money to fix our current situation. Since I'm new I can't post a link so I put spaces. Every penny counts so, thanks in advance and God bless!

i am not trying to be an ass, but you don't usually lose comp benefits unless you signed off the claim?

this is why i retained an attorney for my situation, my thread, "career ending operation" explains and updates everyone to the pitfalls of surgery (even i too have had a revised surgery this past June) and i am still on comp.

i hope that an attorney very well versed in your state's comp laws can help you, but since i am not an attorney all i cannot swear to it, that'll happen.

you might be able to get a different attorney well versed in full disability, and get onto that for life, which is what i most likely will have to do as well.

you may not get on full disability right away, sometimes, here in my state, it can take up to 3 times to get it. BUT, from day 1 that you file? if one gets onto full disability, one gets all that money from the first day it was filed in court!! this is where the attorney then takes his cut, from that huge check.

i wish you and your family all the best, but i cannot reach out to you and your fund, as i am on a smaller check as well, and got my big bills to pay monthly, so i can say, i am feeling for you in every way possible.
 
I lost my monetary benefits because the doctor refused to listen to me and put me back on work duty status. So, I went to work and got worse. I let my employer know, the temporary job I was at, my Workman's Comp adjuster and the doctor who did my surgery. The insurance company is now claiming non-compliance. My attorney has filed all the appropriate paperwork but says it could take years. In the meantime, I can't accept any work, I can't get unemployment, I can't get disability. So, I swallowed my pride and made this GoFundMe to try and get any help we could, otherwise we're going to be on the streets.

wow, only from where i sit, i cannot see why you cannot get on disability...BUT...it could be due to your doctor claiming you were fit for work, that can be the killer right there. maybe another attorney that has his/her own doctors on staff can help.

well, i am sorry for your position right now. i just don't know what else i can say, and to say best of luck may not be the best thing to say as well, at this time.

Did you go back to your old job or get a new one? If you got a new one that may be your problem. I got my workers comp attorney the day after my injury happened

i got mine quickly as well, it is in our best interest to do so, even if the company says it will take care of you
 
My Cynicism kicks in after viewing his GoFundMe page.


  1. The Greeting Pictures.
  2. The Back Operation took place according to the GoFundMe page, in November, 2016, and the GoFundMe page started on July 12.
  3. I'm not much on judging by Surgical Scars, yet the one included offers no specified location. Pro1driver has a much LONGER scar from his operations since the Doctor(s) seemingly went back in the same location.
  4. The script states "We're going to be evicted in 2 days" and that was written on July 12, so by that inclusion, you've been evicted and if not then it's a WHAT.
  5. The O.P. of this post initiated it on Tuesday, July 18 at 2:34 pm which, according to the GoFundMe page, is 4 days AFTER being evicted, so that's another WHAT.
Consistency MATTERS in asking for help.

yeah, i didn't check his go fund me page, but yeah, after seeing his tiny scar, compared to my what, 9" LONG scar, if this were a contest of scars, i'd win hands down..!!!!!!!

The scar might be big enough for a microdiscectomy or something. What bothers me is the skin pattern, the pores, hairs and wrinkles, it doesn't look like the skin along the spine.

some back surgeries can indeed be done thru the stomach area, this i know as my surgeon told me that in my situation, he HAD to go in thru the back.

if he did not have spinal fusion like i have, then yes, the doctor could have gone in thru his stomach and did the surgery thru a scope.

which then, frankly, given comparisons mine was much more involved...all 3 of them....

2001, 2014, 2017......and maybe yet another. this remains to be seen.
