I'm starting to look at home security cameras, does anyone have any input or experiences, good or bad? I have seen a totally wire free set up by Lorex. WIFI and batter operated on motion sensor cameras. The idea of those is appealing.

i have no personal experience, but at the very least are the ones you are looking at able to work at night with out any surrounding lights?

i always wondered if any of those motion detector cameras could also be rigged up with a buzzer that sounds off as well.

but if you have little critters like raccoons or deer getting into the path, they will be a bother to the neighbors, every time they set it off.

Night vision out to a distance for long distance a light would be good. Looking into it reveals that the wired models get their power through the cat5 cable that connects them to the VR. It does relieve one of the battery regimen and looks like a better system. I could probably work with that with the set up I have here.

Just look out the window !
It's free ...
You so funny! Good thing looks aren't everything!!! :hilarious::hilarious: I'm sure you never heard that one before. But...but...but...what about when I'm not here to look out the window?

I can definitely appreciate the value of a nice, big dog. My grandfather used to breed Great Danes and all of his kids (my father and Aunt and Uncle) all had them. I love them. I just don't want to take on that responsibility (they are a responsibility) at this time.

Sounds like good pet owner responsibility you have especially with the big dogs

On google play store, a app called ALFRED, allows you to use a smartphone as a camera, while using another smartphone as a monitor. It works while I am at home, but have not tried it away from home. Instructions say you can access it from anywhere. Wireless and free. Download the app to both phones and mark one as camera and one as monitor.

A sign that says

Guarded by Smith & Wesson

usually does the trick and helps if a police report has to be written
