Estes | Freight decline...

It doesn't seem to have affected my terminal too much. Our dock is still filled with frieght. Chicago on the other hand has been empty the last few times I've been there.

They hire whether they have freight to haul or not, I will never understand that. And then beat everyone up on hours and cost.

You ain't lying. And than they still keep TLI and other 3rd party carriers in the winter time... I wonder if they hire so many because all the new drivers leave shortly after they start cause being OTR isn't what they thought

They will never understand that people don't want to live on the Road anymore. There is a small percentage of drivers that like that sort of thing but the majority of us require more home time. The Linehaul system here is screwed up. They could turn more people ,and relay this using less Trucks, ( dual use) , City/Linehaul slip seat and everyone could have more home time. Even the old green board would be better than what they have now.

Been inquiring about getting on here as regional OTR. The news on this thread doesn't seem all too good. Only problem with me getting on there is that the terminal manager at the Aurora location keeps saying they need drivers. But all I ever get are those rejection emails that are typically reserved for the likes of white collar workers.

There is truth to this but surely we don't want a model like Con-Job where most linehaul drivers work the dock and work 14 hours a day. The green board is a neat idea. Why don't we have that in the south, from what I understand only the northeast territory offers that ?

I don't understand why they can't have a little forethought to extraboard runs. With a little planning they could cut out so much hotel cost by setting up meets. Instead they act surprised when a load gets closed out and they just dispatch it all the way.

Working the dock is not as bad as you would think now a days, 99% pallet freight, and hey, might as well make some money while you're load is getting ready. The Hub operation works fairly well in my opinion.most Hub is 12hrs or less a night.
