Ok, I guess Donna could be right. But I have to ask, above average to what? Anyone have any idea what Donna uses as a measuring tool that describes above average, or not? By the way, is that grocery bag made by Stone Container. I have never seen one with so many holes. Unless you took an actual pay cut on your hourly rate, you're just whining. You have no right to expect overtime.Yep it's true. WE got a pay cut. We faught hard when the union drive was happening to keep the union out. All that did was get the pro union centers a raise so they'd not vote yes. And now we get a pay cut. For those of you that don't understand, here goes.... 2 1/2 hours less a week which equals around $65 a week. That's $260 a month. Then how about $3100.00 a year. That still don't interest you? It affected 15 drivers so in a year that comes to $46,800! And our CCM will be compensated for the huge savings, why else would he want to destroy the good work ethics and postive mindsets? One of our city drivers is getting ready to turn in his notice and three others are seriously looking. The worst part about this is these are new drivers.
And one last thing, we still have to do the same amount of work in a shorter time.

He was traveling down a narrow two lane road, his trailer was left of center and a car hit it. He was cited and they let him go.Why was he fired? If it was unjustly done, there are remedies through the legal system.

There's a large construction company that I used to work for. When I was there al truck related things were Teamsters, rock trucks, fuel trucks, water trucks, lowboys, everything. They have slowly converted everything but the lowboys to operators, the only Teamsters left are the lowboy drivers and all the new drivers in the last few years plus trucks added have been non union to the point that the non union out numbers the union drivers. Last week they fired a union driver, he belonged to local 40 in Mansfield. He called the union and they told him point blank that the company was going to continue doing this until all the Teamsters are gone and there's nothing they can do about it. Local 284 said the same thing. Please tell me why I would want to be a part of that?
Maybe that is the answer I don't know, maybe the answer is/was the members would have stuck together if the Teamster leadership they pay to represent them did that instead of playing golf. This should have been addressed when the first non union driver climbed in a truck there. It was grieved and grieved and was originally told it would be taken care of. But they did nothing. I no longer have a dog in the fight, I switched to a union that protects the interests of its members.If I were a low boy operator I would be running to UPS package asap and hope the rest of the crew would be right behind me.
I see things a bit different than some. The leadership now is worthless and only in it for what they can steal. The new younger in the trenches members are to lazy to stick together enough to vote these thieves out.
You and many others say the Teamsters have NO Leverage ! That saying is absolutely correct today my friend !!
Now the Teamsters have NO LEVERAGE in freight today and the wages and benefits in the non union sector should start their decline. Shareholder value is more important that weather you and your family make ends meet.

Wah, wah, wah. Last bid they cut four of our highest mileage runs and outsourced them to rail and PT. We gained one low mileage turn. Wah, sniffle, I feel so much better now.
