XPO | Slipping bars

Not true.
Question: Upnorth, is DEF different? The reason I ask, our tank began to get low and our CSR had to request a purchase. It took two weeks for approval to come and our tank set empty for about a 10 days. We were buying it on the street at the pump.

It's not about the company allocating the money, it's about the tm ordering the supplies they need to do the job. I'm talking placards, nails, straps, bars, banding materials, shrink wrap etc. when I used to work the o/b dock before my linehaul run, I would leave a note or email for the tm and he would order anything we needed. No problem. Nobody (drivers, dockworkers or FOS) takes the time to let the guy know what we need to do the job so what can you expect? That's just at my place though. Heck, in Newburgh, they can't even get the trash cans emptied on the dock. No kidding! Its pathetic, but I can't say that I blame Jacobs for the lack of bars on our dock.
Can't say for sure but you may have been put on a schedule ( with longer intervals in between ) for emptying dumpster. Some places have trash coming out of the top. Even after management has been notified. No place to empty smaller trash receptacles.

I did get a story about the dumpster not getting emptied and they were working on it. That was three months ago and it's still an issue. I just think it's sad such a big company- can't get the trash emptied, supplies to do our job etc etc. but no, not the end of the world or even worth complaining about. Don't know why I am!

I know they shouldn't but,a lot of guys at our barn don't replace the bars because we are tracked on the hand helds and the times that's it takes to fix them doesn't show and you can't seem to explain to them what you was doing. They brow beat us Dailey that the hand helds are telling them were not productive enough. It's coming to all terminals soon.
I once asked my I/b fos if I should swipe onto equipment maintenance in order to take the time to replace a load bar. His response was something to the effect..." no, stay on dock time while you fix it, it shouldn't take you all that long." You kidding me? I had to go get the ladder, find the wrenches, locate the spare replacement parts, etc etc etc. it took me a good 15-20 minutes to get the job done. That was the last one I fixed. Why? Cause nobody cares. I just bring a couple of track clips that I've taken off of old trashed load straps in my brief case with me when I leave. If a bar falls down during the corse of my day... I just push the bar back up and clip it and I'm good to go.

I worked at Conway when the Saf-T-Stack system was first implemented. I think we all saw this problem on the horizon.

Def is done through the fuel dept. Shouldn't take more than 24 hours to set up a fill. Every barn has a company that they deal with. I would say someone never ordered it.

My barn still gets it by the jug a pallet at a time and when it gets low the TM order another one. It makes no sense to me since all new truck need it and buying in bulk would be cheaper, but hey I'm just a truck driver.
They tried to cut cost by only having the onsite fueling guy only show up every other day. That didn't last long with these new city trucks. We run them so much they need fuel every day. Maybe the next batch of city trucks they get will have smaller fuel tanks on them.

Your TM is an idiot.

The bars are just like everything else we use they wear and break. I guess they cut the spending in that dept too. Until they start bitching about damages again.

We run out of stuff and he says he can't do anything about it because he is waiting on approval.
One question. If you tell them a scale on a forklift isn't working how long does it take to get fixed. For us there here the next day.
A few years ago we were having lots of problem with the scales so the O/B stop reweighting the freight. On a very cold day the TM came out on the dock and bitched us out about not reweighting. We said fine got a bunch of red tags and put all but one forklift O/S. That pissed him off even more. We said since it company policy to reweight freight, that's what he told us, forklifts with broken scales were put O/S. Of course we were told to use them anyway, but for the next 3 day the scale company was there fixing them all.

You all remember the EOBR policy said that if the unit is not working the truck is O/S. You see how long that lasted. They found out how crappy the system is and changed that policy because at some place 1/2 the truck would be O/S. I can't wait to see what happens sometime in Dec 2017 when it is an O/S item.

We have forklift scales that haven't worked in months. We tell the outbound fos and he says he has put in a request and waiting to hear back

I don't have the time to list all the stuff we don't have and that doesn't work. Curious about the future ? We all are. Most people with their heads up and eyes open have already jumped ship. Some long time company cheerleaders have even woken up and all the sudden quit. It's looking to be a fantastic ::shit:: storm.

With as terrible of a system as it is, how could you not ? Other carriers have similar tables. But these are just dumb. The shark teeth rails are the worst. They grab everything. Destroying the freight and the rails. The bars don't go low enough. You only have one bar per rail so you can't make more than one table in a section. And then the long term cost of maintaining this mess. Bad bad bad.

Someone back in the day when we were Con-way got some nice perks for buying into that particular brand. The tracks 100% for sure damage a hell of a lot of freight. The focus does not seem to be on damage anyway as long as they can keep telling everyone damages are at an all time low. Remember what I have been saying Rembrandt is painting a picture for Wall st. You continue telling the lie long enough sometimes it becomes believable.

Don't have enough load bars to replace bad ones, couple of our forklifts have scales but don't work, even though it seems we have a forklift tech at our barn 2-3 times a week. Trash dumpster seems to take forever to be emptied. Hell, we even have a fuel pump that has had a leak for at least a couple months, albeit a small leak, but a leak nonetheless. Solution, keep putting absorbant down, it'll be fine. But hey, we keep getting those stupid ass pig trophies!
