XPO | Rumor Mill: It's going again!

Our tm has the same resume. He's retiring early. And I mean early.

Yeah, I ain't saying anything about the man. I mean what is likely XPO's plan ? This guy was a company man for Con-way. Con-way is dead. A lot of the former company men are gone or getting gone.

I received a card from the Benefits Office, It appears that I am going to have a choice on taking a lump sum payment or drawing a monthly payment . My former CO worker's have not received anything so far. This must be a new option ??? They probably won't offer to current employee's because there would be a mass Exodus!!! Lol

Can you imagine the mass exodus just to get the option of a buy out ? That goes both ways. Trucking all pays the same. Any one can get a job. The opportunity to get at what's left of that money before they have a chance to erase any more of it ? You might only get one shot.

So they are offering a buyout for ex employees? If that's the case do you think they'll try to do the same with current employees?

Maybe not immediately. But they way things are going. In a few months. Maybe in the spring. Absolutely. I think they will anyway. Depends on how successful this buy out is. And I bet it's very popular. They will likely eventually push for new hires that don't have the Con-way benefits packages. Further flatten out and stream line the XPO benefits package across the board.

The pension is supposed to be safe and administered by a Third party. The way the world is going who knows what would be best.

I got a card from the Benefits Office to tell me to expect a package from them on a one time buy out offer the other day. I'm guessing that it will be a low ball offer , not worth taking. I don't know that but I can't help but think that.

Not trying to cause you any trouble. But see if you can block any personal info and post a picture of the card and what it says. If you don't mind.

I would be glad to do that Highspeeds, but I have trouble getting pictures to post on here. Trust me , It's the real deal. Not many people are getting these so far that are in my circles.
My buddy got his last week in the mail he said it was an oversized post card.

No pickups after 4pm would be...heaven.
No p/u's after 1600...what a joke. I came back from a early morning peddle and was told to drop my full trailer and hook to an empty 48' and go make multiple pics at the far end of our territory. Oh by the way, did I mention that they dispatched me on this pic up run around 15:00? Needless to say the 4 pm rule of not making pics was totally disregarded.

Another rumor! Has anyone heard this one? I don't understand it but it does reduce costs for now.

At my barn we have assigned pallet jacks. My jack works well except it needs a repair in the main axle. I requested the maintenance, now I hear pallet jack maintenance has been discontinued because it's to expensive. Within the rumor, no new purchases.

I cannot get an official answer to my question, just wondering if anyone else has heard.
Don't know about this rumor ole man, but I can tell you a similar story that happened to me. My assigned plt jack was squeeking when I would turn it. Sooooo, I asked one of our fos's, "where the grease gun was, my jack needs some lubing up?" He responded w/,"I know where the gun is,but we don't have any grease for it." So I solved my own problem. I made a delivery at a machinery equipment shop and after the receiver unloaded me I asked him if he had a grease gun. He went and got me one. I then proceeded to grease up my jack and my wheels on my two wheel dolly. I guess xpo just wants us to be resourceful by using other people's stuff to maintain our equipment. Ebitda, Ebitda, Ebitda!!!

Has anyone received an actual packet yet? Supposedly someone told someone else that they received their packet and it was a joke. But, who knows if the first person was telling the truth.

Why risk termination from injury or risk harming your body more than this job has already done? If a jack is painful to use just leave it on the dock. When asked why you have have returns tell them why. They will either fix your jack or give you a better run. It's easy to make a safety issue and quality of life argument on this. I have used many Jacks on the route and feel confident in saying that a worn out jack can cause unnecessary pain in your shoulders or even rotator cuff damage

You guys are very fortunate to have enough jacks to even consider leaving one on the dock. What jacks ? By around 0830 they are all gone.

Heard a new one today. It seems the new Elite Pass transponder takes your picture every time you pass a scale or toll booth. I can't find any info on this on the prepass website. Supposedly it's a security feature. So many of our transponders were being used on offs days at tolls we don't go to that the company wants to track them better.

Also, this means you gotta be careful about chewing on a candy bar or taking a swig of something when you are near the scales.

The UPS drivers around here are pissed. They say that UPS wants to start doing like Amazon and deliver a bunch of packages via contractors. The uber style parcel delivery. Looking like there may be a brutal negotiation looming.

Just something they can hold over their head. Their system works ,its profitable and dependable. Their not going to stake their image on outsiders. Just look up last miles customer ratings on Amazon . Not good. I talked to a last mile facility supervisor and they go through contractors like water over a dam. Very unorganized operation.
I have no doubt Ups package will be getting a contract that will put them at or near 40.00 an hour withe fully paid benefits this time around. Power of bargaining.

I received My packet yesterday, I guess to be positive, it could be a option for someone who really needs some money for hardship situations, but it's not a option for me. My offer is about one third what I think the value of my pension is Worth. It did say that the buyout option is being offered to people that are no longer employed by any XPO Company as of July 2017. Also anyone currently drawing the Pension are not eligible.

If you're unable to post a picture of what this letter looks like, would you be able to give us the numbers or formula they're using for the payout?

Number of months/years in pension
times
dollar amount per month
times
Number of years they will payout

Or however they have it stated?

Much appreciated
