Anything interesting goings on to report throughout the system?

Locally, on Tuesday, the Company bought us lunch. Assorted go-boxes to take with you. Also, from Mike Ducker, this useful and much appreciated beverage container: :1036316054::1036316054:

We had our safety cookout on Monday. I'm sure they will say it is for both employee appreciation and safety like they did a couple of years ago. Nothing like getting screwed out of a cookout. No mention of beverage containers for us.

I'm not big on posting on here but it's amazing the difference in what each yard has received this week. My question is ... Does it effect mngmnt. Bonuses as to how much they spend on this week?..... sure seems that way..

We got pretty much nothing in HMS, Hermiston Oregon. Really sad. Where's mr. Ducker on this?

EDIT: I should probably hold off on comment, for another day...

So the week long celebration has been about truck driver appreciation week?? We thought we were celebrating the two drivers who followed the freight out of CLT that allowed the rest of us to move up two seniority spots!! :poke:

Don't get too excited, about the time you get used to it, they'll post a job opening and one of em will slide back in...

Years ago we were told it did. Our previous manager would only make hotdogs and frozen hamburger patties and we were told the less he spent the more he made.

Naw, one driver had actually followed the freight in years ago and he was just going back home and the other driver transferred to be closer to home and he plans to retire in two years anyways...I don't see either ever coming back.

If true, the above is a direct reflection of the local manager, and to a lesser extent the M. Director and RVP for not insuring active participation. Sadly, even when the Company wants to promote positive engagement, and does in fact provide funding, local management can still sabotage the effort. I'd bet there are deeper issues at such centers.

Lack of respect for the Company goals and initiatives, as well as the workforce under his/her command might just be the tip of the iceberg... Certainly a contributing factor in any struggles he/she faces. I would probably ask this manager one question, What would Mike Ducker think about it?
