With the private workforce being less than 7 percent unionized and the Teamsters a smaller percentage within that, I stand by what I said earlier. I also think that getting 20,000 UPS drivers to walk off their jobs isn't realistic because too many of them don't want to go without a paycheck for any length of time, so your point really doesn't carry much, IMHO.
In '97 185,000 Teamsters walked off the job at UPS. They'll do it again if necessary. So it's very realistic.
 
Jacobs and his cronies created this 2 teir system we have now with a difference between tenured and new employees. Just by creating a lower level of compensation for new employees shows the direction they want to go and the only reason they left legacy employees pretty much alone ( downgrading are health insurance) was they couldn't afford at this time to lose them. This alone shows what they and where they want to go with drivers. There has never been a time that we need representation to protect what we have.
Showing the love ... I don't think so.
Just his most recent appearance on Tv 's Mad Money shows what he thinks of drivers by saying that they can be replaced in 10yrs with automated trucks. He wants us to fear that possibility so we feel lucky to get what we have now . He stating exactly what he feels we are a costly liability.
 
So we really haven't lost anything- I thought not. Your focus is on the new drivers because you can use them to stir up the resentment, greed, and jealousy that the union machine feeds on, not because you just love them so very much.

So your saying drivers wanting fair compensation is "greed"
Remember the company set up the 2 tier system
I think they are responsible for any of those feelings. They took the opportunity to go in a downward direction instead of keeping us all the same and by doing so showed that they think we are already overcompensated.

It's their time and its hard to believe people are willing to settle for little. Time is valuable. Go figure. Time and half would gross them 860.00.
But people still vote for politicians who work against them as a working person. Look how many people think right to work laws benefit the worker I guess the laws name fools them.... brace for impact here they come.
Union members keep reelecting Hoffa.

I haven't done anything except my job. Sadly, that's more than the Teamsters have done.

You talk about tier system. Well I hate to say it but union contracts do the same thing. I have work at union shops. The one shop had 2 tiers. The other one had 3 tiers. In the contract they call it hired before dates. Yes the benefits and pay were the same, but when it came to holidays, and vacation accrual that were the difference was along with some other stuff. Their were holidays I was working at straight time while some, if they chooses to work got holiday rate. I also have a friend in a union shop that has 3 tiers and his deals with pension and healthcare and reinterment benefits.
You can sit there and call out XPO for this but the unions been doing it for years.
If you don't believe me then why does UPS have a facial hair in the contract. If hired before this date you can have facial hair and everyone after that date can't.
Yet the union preacher fairness and that everything is the same for every employee in the same job title, but yet they do this.

Those are negotiated terms that are agree too by both sides and the membership voted on it . Im sorry but did we at Xpo have a vote on our 2 tier system because if we did I missed it.

You sir have no say on what Xpo does in concern to your employment or your fellow workers. Where's the fairness in that.

They (Con-way) and now (Xpo) will continue the degradation of your compensation and have shown you that they intend too by reducing compensation and benefits for new employees. That is the direction they went and you can spin it anyway you want but you cant deny it. They have done it.

No we did vote. The union member that voted didnt lost anything they just sold the future members down the river. My point is don't talk about what's fair then screw your future members/ employees. How would you feel working for straight time while some guy getting OT because he starting working there 2yrs before you.

You just don't like what I have to say because it hit the truth . I will not play that game of personal attacks with you.
