No we did vote. The union member that voted didnt lost anything they just sold the future members down the river. My point is don't talk about what's fair then screw your future members/ employees. How would you feel working for straight time while some guy getting OT because he starting working there 2yrs before you.
Once again hard to belive that some one is getting OT because of a hire date in a union contract. Facts please

Just like we found out last year at this time when we were being forced into anti union meetings with persuaders the company hired had no problem lying. I honestly think that's a big reason we won are election by such a wide margin. The guys took the info the persuader was putting out there and fact checked it .The company and the people they hire to stave off the union are just not honest. Had they been upfront with the guys and treated them with respect they may of had better results. The way they conducted themselves hurt them more and showed us what they thought of us.

Or working for straight time after 8 hours due to your geographic location.

If that's true, why does XPO still use walkabouts? Final Mile is the largest last mile provider in the country- surely they can pick up our slack if it gets their foot in the door. If the goal was to phase us out for subcontractors, why isn't Final Mile still in Philly? Why aren't they in Salt Lake? I'm sure there are other locations that could use some cheap labor in the midst of a driver shortage.
Walkabouts are used because they are work ready. They know the system, loading procedures, linehaul, and p and d. They are turnkey and need no training. It makes sense. Contractors are not usually covered by your workman's comp, vehicular insurance, etc. The more than likely can't operate company owned equipment because they are not employees.
But just as the sub service freight flow was slowly increased to the monster level it is at now, so can these last mile guys. I'm not saying that they will take over p and d ops, but they can take work from us. All it takes is one FOS to say "let's add these other 2 stop on last mile guy to cut this other route." Then our guy does something else. Nobody I work with ever expected sub service to account to what....almost 44% of our freight flow nationally?

:2437:Wow. All this union buster's against one union plant.
The company must really be worried that people might start listening to one guy..
It's funny that people that see the union for the thieving frauds they are get called union busters. The union busted themselves by being the giant greedy corporation they supposedly hate.

I'm just wondering? I'll ask you. Do you hate thieves?? Careful with your answer. The last time i asked this question and i showed people how much of a hypocrites they are. They weren't very happy about it.
Also remember when you lie make sure you believe your own lie.Either wise it won't be convincing.
I will admit on here that the top people in the union aren't to be trusted. But again if union's sector's are so bad, then i don't understand how some union members are doing very well. Examples-- UPS,FBook,GooGle,waste management and so on and so on.
I would give you link's to look up, but they'll be removed. So do your own research and get to me about this union members contact's. Oh since i might be a mechanic or maybe a union plant. Look up Penske & Ryder contract's.
Then tell us how union's are thieves.
And remember my original Question. Do you hate thieves.
And the rest of you who answerd this question don't help him answer. Right upnorth.

I'll play along. I don't like thieves. Does that work?

I'm a former union member and I get my pension statements. It's gone because the union stole it. That's why I think they're thieves.

How did they steal your pension in detail?

By the way. I was also a union member. So i know what union's do and don't do.
Believe it or not this did happen and was written in the contract. Just like Stand4afuture said I also was in a union, 2 of them, and like him I also know what they do and don't do.
This was not a geographical location this was union drivers looking out for themselves with no care on the future.
The union was local 639 Washington D.C. and the contract was for the drivers at Giant Food of MD. In that contract when I work there was 2 different parts of hire by dates in which the main focus was on what days were paid as holidays. The one holiday I remember was Good Friday about half the drivers their got 8hrs holiday pay and the day off and if they choose to work they got their OT rate plus the 8hrs holiday pay. For any one else hired after that date it was a standard work day with no holiday pay or OT rate.
In no way did I get a vote. Yes the members of the union did vote on this but like I said they lost nothing and sold the future works down the drain not just once but twice and who know how many time after I was layoff.

I'm sorry but did I miss the part why you didn't get to vote. Did you come to work there in the middle of the contract or were you out sick that day?

Also why is it always soly the Unions fault in your eyes when the company is the one who puts the concessions on the table. I not sure if you know how collective bargaining works. The company's almost away ask for concessions to a contract talk the union either denies the concessions or accepts them in trade for another item. This is still more say than we get with Xpo so who has it worse. We are employees at will . You either accept what they offer or live with it.
It's sounds to me Fly that you need to stay at one employer long enough to gain some seniority and have the earned benefits that go along with it and I don't mean that as a dig.

Kind of hard to get seniority at a place when one they close there doors or you get layoff and per the contract once you are layoff one year plus one day you are removed from the call back list. I was just giving facts to 00mustang like he ask because he didn't believe it.
I just point out the fact that in union contracts there are tiered employees just like you pointed out on what XPO did. You call them fancy words like concessions.
One of the biggest problem with the LTL industry is seniority. I think a lot of you are pissed off at the point that XPO doesn't care about your seniority just look at you badge, do you see it, they took the employed by date off of it. I have to say thank god because a lot of driver are tired of hearing I been here for XXyears and I deserve special treatment. I seen it in the city and at the FACs.
