ABF | How Long Will It Take To Realize What is Happening?

I made really good money at ABF. I could never complain about that. But it was just too much work.

The money was decent because we hit top rate in a year... But there were days where it was too much... Not enough help, too much planned on a given day, running UPacks and cubes late at night, pissing neighbor off... The vacation thing will catch up to you, even being laid off and not working a day here and there.

And that is where we all should be, one could live decent on that.

It would be nice for everyone. If everyone got paid the same and had similar benefits and retirement, then it would be equipment, type of freight and management to bitch about... Oh wait, we do that anyway... Being a driver... Such a love/hate thing...

Sounds like we've had a very similar experience in our career. ABF burned me out, and UPS is reinvigorating me.

OK..the bar is set..groundwork laid to rid ArcBest of the ABF burden and CPSF..Why?
The logistics branch exists and handing out time critical to Panther...Move Builder exists and handing out U-Packs to OD and Estes..who knows how much business is being given to other carriers through the logistics division? You can bet quite a lot..So, the Logistics division does not need good ole ABF and its burden. So, bury your head in the sand and pretend it ain't so.
You might think, well I will ride this horse until the end, and that is what I am planning on doing. You might think..well there is a truck driver shortage and I can always get on with another carrier...Yes, you might get on with a truckload carrier or foodservice, but another non union would think twice about hiring a Teamster! OK, you heard it here..Melno Logistics already set the model for Judy to follow...and I don't agree with anyone that says they did it because Con-Way was in place at the time. Our logistics division is in place!

I saw a 53ft'er yesterday with this logo. He took an offramp going in another direction so I couldn't catch him to get a close look. White trailer with black logo.

Is there a truckload division for ArcBest now? It was being pulled by blue long nosed sleeper cab. Too far away for me to see what company the tractor was running for.

Apologies for barging in , I didn't want to start a new thread and tried to post this question in the closest topic I could find.

You're not barging in......ArcBest is now a gypsy low-ball board. They contract the load, take loin's share of revenue,....and throw it out on contractor load boards for guys to fight over the crumbs....

"Hey! That's my backhaul to the house! I'll run it for .70 cents a mile....Gets me home.."

They'll use anyone,.....although I hear their preferred carriers are HapHazard Freight out of Bugscuffle Arkansas,......and Wing'N'a Prayer Freight Lines, out of Hellmouth W. Va............

They whipped this up with your 7%.

I'm not exactly sure how it works, but... it's non-union, and not a good sign.

I wonder if Judy has a Con-Way logo she kisses every day before leaving for work.

Yeah,......The Con-way logo is plastered on the belly of the statue of Beelzebub, surrounded by the dried bat wings and clenched mummified monkey's paws on the dark altar in the sub-basement caverns under the corporate headquarters.......

no... she has it tattooed on her right cheek, she just slaps it every day

I...hate...to ask this,...but it must be done......Inquiring minds want to know..........

Which set of cheeks? Upper or lower?.............

( I'm gritting my teeth in anticipation of a grisly visual image that'll scar me mentally for life..).....

well...remember the scene in the movie "Forrest Gump" and he was told during a rectal exam to bend over and spread his cheeks? If you remember correctly (and this brought down the house) he bent over and spread his upper cheeks?

in ATL Sunday. .It was a BARR NUNN Trucking truck stop at ABF. More of them than ABF drivers.. I say we lock gates at contract time.

Good Grief!

What say you, Mr. Soehl? Is it fair that a cut-rate, low-ball, low-trained, low-paid, carrier cross ABF's gate and suck all the work away from dues-paying Teamsters?

They really suckered Fric and Frac..( Tyson and Gordon..) last contract. That's painfully apparent 5 years later.

Ernie will do no better if he knows what's good for him. They all dance to Hoffa's tune or the get moved out. It's hopeless for us.
