Well the Local B.A. came in this week and said YES it's TRUE all new hires & guys that not up to Full Pay will now go to FULL PAY next week !!! So guys working there 2 months will be same pay as guys there 20 years ! Total B.S. and no pay increase for the guys that been there 20 years . So WHY did the union sign off on this ? Got no respect for union anymore after letting this B.S. happen !!:fingure:

Because they can. And get away with it. It's not right, but they can & do do what they want. By the time a legal action is filed & appealed, the freight division will be like a dinosaur, extinct, & YOUR attorney fees awarded by the court because you lost, will force you to file chapter 7.

Well it is just 1 more slap in the face to the vet's.

Everyone had to go through the pay progression when hired on and we all came in with experience. I can understand that they are having an extremely difficult time recruiting drivers and this is being done to try to get them on board, but it is a mess of their own doing!

So now a guy fresh out of driving school will make the same pay as a guy with 20-25 years of driving at a Union company no less.

For those newbies that say this is right I want you to understand in NO other trade does someone coming in at entry level experience make the same pay scale as a journeyman, not even in today's environment where there is a lack of skilled journeyman rated tradesman. This is just another example of how the Union has sold their sole to company to keep their gravy train coming in.. good luck in 2019 getting anything back.

I have always believed that the newbies are fed miles because they cost the company less money to run. It actually makes sense if you can reduce your costs by using a less costly way to move the freight it should increase profits. If the newbies do get bumped up to the same pay as the senior drivers it could actually get the veteran drivers more miles because the cost will be no greater than a newbie and a veteran usually will do a better job of getting it there on time and in one piece. If this actually happens it could be better for the veterans than the newbies because the newbies might actually gross less money if their miles go down even though they are getting more pay per mile. I guess my glass is half full this morning! Enjoy the weekend brothers!

That is the dumbest ****ing thing Ive seen posted here in a while. And believe me wong posts some stupid ::shit::. You mean to say that now because everyone is at "scale" that senior men will make more??? How do you figure that for city drivers? And why would they just all of a sudden decide to give miles to other drivers. Ive been on the phone with central dispatch a few times. They arent that savvy or competent to move miles to lesser paid employees. Nobody in managment in this circus is that competent.

Well I know carhaul is different than freight but everyone comes in at full rate from day one after training, and talked with guys in the shop told me the same thing new guys full scale from the get go, now they do have classification rates that are different such as fueler/washer parts stocker which their rates are not the same as the guys on the floor

I don't know anything about city work and I am guessing you never ran the road? Sorry you don't agree with me, I guess that is why it's my opinion. I live out here on the road and hear the new guys getting six hundreds and the senior guy getting four hundred and fifty so believe me it happens. I worked P&D for a non union for almost 20 years and I will never peddle freight again. If they do bump the newbies up to scale in the future I will let you know how it works out. I am still betting it doesn't happen and they just continue to do it in certain places like MN but we will see. What is happening in MI this weekend? None of the guys want to go out, they are sending all the AP guys down to cover your loads Sunday night, I suppose those will be the guys bitching the loudest next week that they didn't make any money because they had to watch the Packer game instead of listening to it on the radio. You can assume anything I post on here has nothing to do with city guys, I will never be one and know nothing about it except what you guys post on here or I hear in drivers rooms.

I ran linehaul before I came to Holland 15 years ago. Yeah I'm thinking the Sunday night Packer game may have something to do with AP guys running here to cover loads. Could be all the relay freight we get in here now. I dont work outbound but in all the years I have been doing inbound I have never seen so much relay freight routed here. We must build an extra 3-5 loads per day of Amazon for Joliet and an extra 4 loads just for the cartage company in Minneapolis

The "POINT " is that the Veteran Driver's with 15 or 20 years , had to work from 2 to 3 years to get to Full Pay !!!:6788:
You would not wish for something better to happen to your brother? I suppose if you made a hundred thousand this year and you found out that someone with less seniority made a hundred and ten you would be pissed? I know a lot of guys like you. If there are any newbies on here I would just like to say that I for one had to work three years to get to scale and wish you nothing but the best of luck not having to go through that! I hope you all go to scale the first day and make lots of money! Good Luck Brothers, but watch out a lot of the senior guys are greedy pricks! I am not going to mention any names!

Can't really get a straight answer from road drivers on mileage rate at GALLIPOLIS/ HUNTINGTON TERMINAL. So what can one expect to top out at here?(CPM AND HOURLY)

I have been retired for 22 yrs,if a driver can do the job give them the pay.I worked at ABF as a casual for 19 months, people over me were shifting yellow when I startled driving.

I work in food-service and the company likes to play all kinds of Games :hyper: with new hires, especially in the last 5 yrs or so. One of my favorites was work your butt off on casual statues with no benefits and a few drivers finally as long as a yr were hired. Another is getting your % up to certain level, which if your not in great shape to start good luck. I think it took me 4 yrs to reach scale and only a 45 day probation period. Non the less they burned through a ton of drivers that just weren't willing to put up with all the hoops. Some actually pretty good workers. Putting more pressure on the existing drivers to do more with less. Sign bonuses are only temporary, so here I'm happy to see them cut the window down so some of these drivers are willing to stick around.

Well look at it this way. They divided and conquered a little more, and they got themselves a whole bagful of yes votes.
I totally disagree....14 terminals will give them a bunch of yes votes, but 38 terminals will kill someone to vote NO. I use old school math but in the old days 38 was much larger than 14. I understand that things have changed in schools, back when I went, we still used the boys room if you had something hanging down between your legs, so if 14 is now larger than 38 please let me know!

Agree to disagree. I was told there wouldn't be any math in this part of the test, but how did you come up with a terminal by terminal breakdown of how people will vote? I'd love to agree with you, but I'm guessing most of the new hires used to work for 10-12 bucks an hour, so this is big money to them. The only wild card will be how many stay through the winter. the slab can be pretty brutal Jan-April. Having said that, yrc want's a revolving door because then people leave before they finish the koolaid.I still think that across the board, the new hires will carry the day. Most of them are right to workers anyways so it isn't like any of them give enough of a shi! to care about the big picture. Needless to say . I'll be voting no, and by the we if we're using centimeters, 14 is almost larger than 38.
