SAIA | Decision making day

So, what happened Train? Did you have an accident and now you are "3 days on the street", waiting for an answer as to what they are going to do with you? I've been there but not with a camera in the truck. Good Luck cause what comes around, goes around.
One day suspension for a rolling stop sign. I did stop but they said I didn't. No big deal. I don't like it but I will get over it. Just counting the days until retirement. Surely you can be more original than what goes around comes around.

Coming into work everyday now with a one and done looming over ones head everyday is no way to live long term. If your that close to retirement there are many that envy you. Being I have 25+ years left before I can retire I would begin my search for another carrier to drive for before I would live with that stress hanging over me. The health effects of that kind of long term stress aren't worth a truck driving job.

You are absolutely correct. If I was young >>>>> I would be done. But since I have less than 6 months to go I will make them fire my old ass. At my age getting fired wouldn't bother me a bit. Actually, I think I would probably be relieved. Don't get me wrong I love my dispatchers and most of my co-workers. But there are some here that would love to stab you in the back and think it's fun. Now that's another story I will address once I leave.

Its a double standard at this place , not all drivers are subject to the cameras because not all trucks have cameras in them. Yet they want to discipline those that deal with the cameras everyday. While the others go across the yard talking on their phones.
This is the number one post on this thread so far. It deserves 1000 likes. It sums up the bitterness that drivers have over these cameras. Pooty I commend you. When you have trainers that drive trucks that DO NOT have cameras that tells you everything you need to know. That ARE NOT held to the same standards we are. They are given a free ride. And that's simply not fair. I could go on and on but I will have plenty of time to address things as time moves on.

And let's not forget most of the senior P&D drivers get to choose their tractors. And guess what they choose the trucks with no cameras. And if you jump in one you get threatened with your life. We have actually almost had fights over those trucks without cameras. I know of a couple of guys that went to the TM over threats.

Let me be clear about something. I know that I'm easily replaceable and SAIA won't miss a beat without me. It was made very clear to me when I was coached and then suspended. I know my place here and have always known it even when I was defending SAIA. There is a right way to do things and there is a wrong way to do things. No one is above company policies and I understand that. But when others are allowed to not be held to the same code of conduct then things become unfair. And that's what is happening here.

File a grievance

I know guys who have a whole lot more way more serious violations than a rolling stop sign and haven’t had one day off I’m not saying your lying I’m just saying the system is unfair it seems the tm has much more control over who gets written up than we think

For those of you who aren’t close to retirement, I encourage you to become your own boss and master of your destiny and put your talents and skills to work for you, NOT some moron behind a desk.

There is so much freight out there to move all over the country that it isn’t even funny. Go buy a truck (not as expensive as you think, and it doesn’t have to have all the bells and whistles) and start pulling your own loads. No cameras or double standards. Work as hard (or as little) as you want. Don’t let Saia break you any try to diminish your value to this country. Do the research...I made the move a few years back and my life did a total 180.

The standard here for the cell phone ... Rolling stop ... Red light is one day. They try to be fair in that regard. Everyone talks here so everyone knows how many days are given for the first offense. I can only speak for my terminal. I guess it depends on how bad the driver turnover is. I can't say how many drivers get free passes because that's on the down low. I think all drivers should get one free pass that doesn't include the one day suspension. After that it's on you. Instead the first offense is one day and the next time your done. Not my company and not my rules. I'm just glad it's almost over for me.
