We have an outside haz mat vendor at our barn atleast twice a week or more this is out of control can you imagine the money there spending on this the haz mat spills are out of control

That’s nuts! I don’t know if this is true or not but I hope it’s not! On the other hand, I hope it does.
Our old shop must have 50 drums from hazmat spill cleanups in it. I have seen more spills in the last 2 yrs than all my other years combined. There's a real hazardous cocktail sitting in that garage.

Doesn’t the company run the risk of losing its authorization to transport hazardous materials if they have multiple hits against them ( hm paperwork not being correct, freight not loaded, secured or placarded correctly and certainly including hm spills)? I seem to remember we were told that was part of the company’s CSA2010 score and if too many violations added up they could lose ability to be an HM carrier.

I'm not sure if it would affect the score because at are terminal most of the spills happen unloading the trailers with the new dock workers. I guess the old adage you get what you pay for rings true here.
"Results matter"

It's just gone crazy. It's 70/30 imo. The constant turnover of dock workers. No experience. I've had to intervene countless times in the past year. Loading on decks, leaving drums loose in the trailer, just stupid ::shit::. But management allows it. Last week, I had a skid of caterpillar paint. You guys have probably seen them... one carton on a skid. Carton loose, arrows pointing down. So, naturally I flip it arrows up. Dumped a whole quart. Someone speared it, and instead of telling the fos, they flipped it upside down! Fos didn't seem too worried. They are new is all I get.

Just stupid. No accountability any more. None.

I think a big part of the problem is the lack of real priority put on quality overall vs the cheapest way to do things. The number one focus is maximizing profits to boost share price. That's why we see cuts all over the business spectrum from truck and building matainence to employee benefits cost. It's something we are not use to as former Co-way employees .

You have to pay for quality. That hurts the bottom line. EBITDA. Shareholders. No leadership ( that requires thinking things through: actions have consequences - decisions have results. )

I know! Let's do what Old Dominion does. Let's do what YRC does. Let's do what ABF does. Let's do what FedEx does. Let's roll out dockworkers without thinking it through. And , let's not properly train them!

Yeah , experience is overrated. The drivers jobs are easy , there's not much to it , we'll bring anybody off the street , pay them less , and get great results!

Well that's another thing when someone says where's the supervision.our terminal has lost so many mgnt that we have very little of it. We've got dock workers running sectors. What a joke. The blind leading the blind
If Brad Jacobs is supposed to be good for this company then when's it gonna happen? We were supposed to be patient and give them time to figure things out. Seems from my prospective he's ruining any reputation we had left. He clearly doesn't love drivers as he casually talked publicly replacing them. Management is a total revolving door at the terminal level. Seems the only ones singing acalades anymore are him and higher level management that will directly profit from pushing the stock higher by misleading investors.

Hopefully in the midst of this carnival side show their running we do not have a major hazmat spill that harms anyone.

Is the dock issues and lack of management really system wide though, or might it be just at a few spots?

Brad is just the money guy. Has little to nothing to do with the day to day operations.

All of the issues mentioned in all of the previous posts plus others that I know about cause me to believe we are effed and a short lived company. Today, at my sic we returned a 17 skid order, after the customer inquired whether we could take it. We picked it up and 2 1/2 hours later return it to their dock. SOMEONE, ANYONE, please buy XPO LTL and turn it around! Otherwise, we’re done!!
