Heres a good one at xsl the other day i went to back dolly under trailer and it felt really heavy so i ran it across scale it was 28,330 on the dolly axle wow!!! The whole trailer was only 12,890 it was loaded in Lda the bill was wrong they billed it as 2833 pounds they had them racked too!!! What amazes me is it made it from LDA to XSL crazy!!!

Saw a manifest in XNW this week that another driver pulled there. One bill, 8,000#. What one motor move weighs 8,000#? A forklift, right? That’s what this driver thought, but the destination wasn’t XNW so the driver questioned the bills weight. Turns out to be 800#. That could have been a rollover. I know that kind of stuff happens more then we think. One reason I like loading my own when possible.

And no one cared or cares. Whoever did it won’t get a single thing said to them.

Last I knew everything was to be reweighed. Sound like a lot of barns missing out on some easy money

After a reweigh, the weight isn't corrected in time for the manifest to come out right. At least on outbound that's how it is. Silly that we have all this "technology" but if you want an accurate manifest, you have to write in the weight after you shut it down. I don't bother unless it's over about 1000 pounds difference on one bill, but the difference in multiple shipments can add up fast too.

All I know is at my barn they are hot and heavy on the reweighs and if a dock work see a huge difference in weight he tell the fos to correct it right in the system. There was a time he wouldn't correct because he wanted the credit for the reweigh till one night he got burned. They loaded a trailer close to 24k and when he went to close it it shot up to 32k there was one bill that weighted 6k heavier then billed. Well rework trailer and two late dispatches later he learned his lesson.

I had one like that, way back when. They listed the piece count instead of the weight. Made a difference of about 10,000 pounds. Glad I weighed it!

Also, we are getting a lot of Hazmat shipments with no information or wrong information. Corrosive marked flammable in the scanner. ::shit:: is out of control.

When hazmat isn’t billed yet and I can’t get a copy bill, it goes in os&d. Funny how a shipment can leave the origin service center without a bill. Had that happen a few times too.

That is odd. Also odd...how does a shipment leave a customer without a pro?
Does that happen? If for some reason I had no pro stickers or bill of lading with me, I’d get dispatch to fax one. I guess the customer could also print one out? I didn’t spend enough time in the city to know all the situations you come across.

Had a 18k lb lead, and a 15k lb rear trailer one night. Broke my trailers, put them in the doors at LDA, and I got stopped soon as I set foot on the dock. Apparently somebody had put a 10k lb shipment on the tail that wasn't manifested, 2 skids, so that rear trailer was 25k lbs, lead was 18k. I didn't know, didn't drive any differently, and nobody got killed.

Could have bought a lottery ticket I guess,.

Had you bought the jackpot-winning ticket, you’d be forced to leave this wonderful career...and who wants to do that?
