IMO. That policy was the worse decision SAIA EVER MADE. It absolutely destroys driver morale and severely hurts driver retention. When the DOT allows it but then SAIA doesn't. That TELLS you SAIA has an overzealous safety department. And then when drivers do trip up you immediately suspend them. Why in the world wouldn't you give them at least one written warning? They have alienated themselves from the drivers and now they for the most part will never go the extra mile. That's just one of the reasons SAIA will find it so difficult to ever reach their full potential. Drivers are the key to growth and profitability. Something that Old Dominion understands and will continue to be the leader in LTL for years to come. Sometimes you take things too far. And that's exactly what SAIA has done.

I agree they went way too far. Linehaul drivers especially must be miserable.
I cant believe they banned the use of CBs and Bluetooth on top of driver facing cameras.

The stress they added to the drivers there is ridiculous. People are frightened to make a small mistake and lose their jobs their families depend on. Saia should be ashamed of themselves.

Let it be known that this is a topic I will go into in depth when the time is right. It's amazing what some terminal managers will do to get the numbers right. I'm getting my ducks in a row and when they open the Fort Worth terminal I think I will be ready to open up Pandora's box.

Its no rumor, we are opening a Ft Worth terminal. Shooting for the 1st part of 2018. Old Fed Ex terminal off trade winds over by alliance airport i believe. And I bet you Rick Milam will be the T.M.

I have an inside track to OD if I wanted to go there. But when I retire I want out of trucking. I will just stay here until I get fired or quit. It would make no sense at my age to start over at another LTL outfit. I'd like to start a landscaping business or some other enterprise that has a low cost startup. I have plenty of options to consider. Trucking is not one of them.

Billy still may be a start, he's got grass mowing covered, that's a start to landscaping, I bet Ump may be looking for
a goat herder.
Wish I could help with a Walmart greeter job, but I got fired.
I applied for a Motsuh job, but have not heard from them.

Every morning I wake up and put on this green and black uniform considering what an honor it is because I know when all the other truckers see me, they only wish they worked at OD also.

OD is just another freight company like all the rest. They have their problems too, just like all the rest!
