Mostly drivers will be affected. SAIA has been over spending money on new terminals and equipment.
If you haven’t been feeling the cut backs yet which I’m sure drivers have. Drivers will begin feeling the cut back when there standing in the unemployment line. The most Disturbing thing is how SAIA is targeting drivers with years under there belt.
There gain is to save money. They don’t care how good you run line haul or how good you run in the city. The will save money by getting rid of you and hiring new drivers on board to replace you.
This is a yearly occurrence for the most part. 5% hand selected layoff, with no rehire eligibility.
We already had massive layoff it was called inward facing cameras. All them drivers we lost the freight should match number of drivers when it slow down
And corporate can't understand why.I don't remember the year it was.....Layoff the first week of Dec.... Second week of Jan the where already short of people ( drivers and dock workers ). Overtime went through the roof.
And who did you hear this from?Rumor has it that SAIA will be laying off sometime before the end of this year.
You technically mean economic terminations correct?
I thought that was what OD called it lol?
Any non-union without recall rights are technically economic terminations.
Oh ok. As many of the grazers will no doubt find out the hard way....
As you'll no doubt find out if you read the Saia board, they pick who they choose to terminate, aka "layoff", with no regards to seniority.
