SEFL | Open enrollment 2017

This is something I don’t understand about being self-insured; claiming that premiums have to go up because insurers are charging more. If a company is self insured, doesn’t that company foot the bill while the insurance company is merely an administrator?

Most are self insured but they get their doctors network thru US Health Care, BCBS , Aetna , Etc. they also pay a fee for use of the network and admin fee's. You doctor bills the medical company, they intern send a bill to your company. You company pays them and they pay the doctors.

So it would be a bogus claim to say insurance has raised our premiums and more accurate to say the company decided its paying enough for our healthcare costs.

Your provider might have raised the fees to keep them with the same level of coverage as they have now. All over the news is the cost of rising medical insurance. It's across the board in most industries and even government jobs.

I know I say a lot of negative thing about SEFL, like their lack of living their culture, their fascination of young inexperienced management, incompetence of fleet services management, (at the corporate level) Linehaul dispatch that is not held accountable for their stupidity, City dispatchers that continuously lie to customers with no regard, terminal managers who only push numbers numbers numbers, and dock supervisors who cheat theirs, but the insurance is one thing that I cannot say anything bad about. I have been impressed with BCBS hands down.
