After all the union trucking is gone, NOW they are building power? Rrriiiiggghhhhtttt.....

Public sector jobs. If you read the teamster magazine they send out it’s usually bus drivers and police officers. That’s what is usually in that anyway, not that that’s a bad thing.
Not unless you like higher and higher property taxes to pay for them.
Should they all make minimum wage? Love teamsters that think no one else should make a living wage but you as a truck driver deserve better.
Back in the 70's I was a member of PROD. I was young and honestly believed that we could clean up the union.I dropped out after they merged with TDU. My job shut down and I was able to get on with another company who's local was even more corrupt. I guess I was selfish and just went along while making a good living. "Sit down and shut up you're lucky your working".
Wow, that's the conclusion you've come to from reading my comment? I'd say to you don't quit your day job, you'll never make it as a "logical thinker".

Higher property taxes cost the elderly on fixed incomes to sometimes lose their homes. Almost did my Mom.
FDR and George Meany of the AFLCIO knew and stated that there should never be PUBLIC EMPLOYEE Unions. That too many elderly would be hurt. There’s really no one negotiating on behalf of the taxpayers. The were never authorized by Law, only by a JFK Exec Order. PRIVATE EMPLOYEE Unions are a good thing for wages, because companies negotiate, and understand the give and take of their own costs...
You can say the same for any union. They raise wages for the most part therefore raising costs on any products associated with them. Freight, buildings, food prices, airlines, bakeries, Ect. Better retirement planning should be figured into retirement for anyone including myself. Prices on everything have doubled and tripled in the in the last 30 years. It’s not going to get cheaper.
My great uncle retired in the mid 80’s. He also still lives well because he saved and invested well. To many retire when they just want to retire as to when they can afford to retire. Not thinking about future price increases is a major thing people tend to forget.
Different world. My Mom never worked, so she couldn’t retire. Dad worked for the federal government, so there was no SSI. His farm was paid off. He collected $400 @ month pension. Died in 2008 at 86. Mom got the farm. School built two new schools, doubled the taxes. Then gave a new contract, doubling the taxes again. Had my sister not bought the family farm, it would’ve been sold to pay the taxes...

That’s exactly what I’m saying. Seen to many people retire basically living hand to mouth. I’ll probably never get to retire. Pension is unreliable and my 401k is a joke after getting cut in half almost 10 years ago. Im on the work tell I die retirement plan. Lol. Hopefully my wife can make it off my life insurance plan and I don’t become disabled.
When a union in the private sector gets additional benefits for the workers and the company is forced to raise prices for its products or services you as the consumer have the option to purchase those products or services from a different company. When a public sector union gets additional benefits for its members you as the taxpayer don't have the option to shop around for a different police department. You are stuck paying the additional costs by way of your taxes. Totally different scenario private sector verses public sector.
Yea, because groceries, gasoline, housing prices “as bid by construction companies”, electricity, roads “as bid by construction companies” are optional huh? Give me a break! All of these are subject to higher wages so your point is null and void.
I'd give you a break if I could understand the point you're trying to make. Nothing you've said in any way negates what I posted. I have a choice where I buy groceries, gasoline and even electricity. I have no choice in who my police are. Do you finally understand that? Try, OK?
Groceries are still susceptible to freight hikes. So is gasoline. The industry is talking about a 15% to 20% price increase.

Most people don’t have a choice on electric companies. You’re some of the lucky few who has a choice. My electric bill more than tripled in the last 10 years. Government overspending is rampant I agree. Things like buying sports stadiums, race tracks, overpriced buildings for schools, post offices and such are ridiculous.
My whole point was about people retiring without thinking about price increases. It is something that most people I’ve seen retire never think about.

The point wasn’t about retiring early. You responded to a post about my parents possibly losing the farm because taxes went up four times their amount in a short time, caused by public union negotiating. Dad didn’t retire early, and he didn’t not plan well. The taxes went up irresponsibly. Actions have consequences. Tax and spenders hurt people on fixed incomes.
