Then they fixed the pit light's.which hadn't worked for over 20 year's. But after the our petition. Suddenly thing's where being done.
So does all this benefit everyone? I think so.
 
Our place was falling apart till we decided file a petition for a vote then low and behold teams of terminal managers came in were forced to clean the place up. They couldn’t contract anyone because Jacobs wouldn’t allow them to spen money. It was a real circus.
 
To answer you're respond about the 3rd party rep. Upnorth. You said we have it too.
Well did the company take away more from us than you guy's?
Did our 3rd party do anything for us?
I think not. Right?
They did take away more from you. And legally, they could have from us too. The costs of buying out our vacation made it cost prohibitive. It’s unfortunate your government can’t help you.

Then we have this. We had a water fountain that gave out brown water. It was from the 40's. We asked to get it replaced we we're told. That the fountain was fine and it didn't need to be replaced.
But we got a new one and it even has hot water.

We have two water coolers and bottles.
 
The lunch room was a table , chairs, leaky refrigerator, and a microwave.
But then wham!!! New Cabinets sick installed. The refrigerator was replaced because i had a long talk with the service center manager and he was nice enough to replace the leaky refrigerator.

Is this all you can point to? If so, I find it quite pathetic. It’s nothing tangible. What else has the union done for your employees?

Yeah they do and it buys them a lot loyalty cheap

It really insighted are guys when they pulled that thing out when we were trying to talk about making thing better and discussing are stagnating compensation. They really thought we were that simply bought.
But that being said there’s a decent amount of guys that fall for it.
In our case had they listened to us and treated us respectfully as equal to them things may have turned out different.

Oh im so glad you found tha pathetic. Since it took him so many years to do it. And they only did it after we petition. But since that's pathetic how about this. And make sure you read it carefully because i was the one to have change everyone's compensation.OH and please let me know if any of you have done anything like this will have changed anything like this.

You got a raise. Cool. I’m happy for the shop guys. How did the union force the company to give you a raise?

For years we asked about this they told us that the company was not going to change the way business was done we petition to Union and out of the blue they give us more I would call that a brive. To keep the union out. So my question stance have you ever gotten anything like this have you ever changed anything like this?
 
In New York the company got wind recently of a union drive underway and decided suddenly that the terminal was not being paid correctly ( metro region differential) just out of the blue and gave them all a pay raise to bring them up to other terminals in the area. I say great! That’s pressure from unionization threat.
What ever it takes.
Might be worth trying at other places even if your not into unions .. worked for them

Damn right it is.
But most of this guy's in here will tell you it's because the company cares and love's it's employees. The company doesn't need or feel pressure.

Yeah i know it's still pathetic.. After 40 something year in business the company actually realized that they needed to change...
