Morning guys and gals. Sitting in my tree stand waiting for big buck to come walking on by figured I had the time to write my opinions of XPO!

So I've been with the company for about 6 months now. I went and got my cdl on my own dime didn't wanna be stuck with a company and owe them anything! That was my choice and I'm happy I did it that way!!!

My first month was about 4 weeks of training. 3 in the city in P&D and 1 in linehaul on overnights. Was pretty good. My trainer was very knowledgeable and helpful. I've been in the trucking business for about 5 years now just not as a driver. Worked for 2 LTL company's as a supervisor and was good at my job liked it just wanted to get into driving so I did and here I am now!!

So I am on overnights and running linehaul into a fac! My center is also a fac. I've ran the last 3 weeks in a row every night most time it's 3/4 nights a week and some hostling. My first thing is this! What is up with the sterlings! I don't get why we are keeping them around. I feel incredibly unsafe when I drive one of them. Just my first thought is why not get some decent tractors and retire these!

Secondly. XPO does not care about your personal life! If they could you'd work 16 hours a day and they wouldn't bat a eye! Before I got hired I said I need 2 days off for a family thing going on. Yeah no problem! Next thing I get told that they would see what they could do! Such bull ::shit::! I'm getting frustrated as I type. Ha

Third! Fac's don't give a crap on what happens. The supervisors hide in there little shakes clueless of what is going on. Dock workers talk all night and don't do a damn thing! I'm stuck on the fac working dock until almost 6 am and have a 4 hour drive back to the center. :/

Last it seems like no one really knows what management does! Other then hide in the offices and sometimes do something! I have to call at 6 pm every night to see if or where I'm going and some days I don't get home until 11! Like WTF! I suggested maybe sending out texts msgs or them calling us and was told they are way to busy! I've ran bigger areas and centers then these people! They are clowns and don't really know anything! Their are a few who do but not many!

My overall opinion is I make good money! I'm going to stay until I get at least my year in so I have driving experience and I'm gone! I give XPO a C- as a company! I like the drivers I work with but damn does the company get me going some days!

Hope you enjoyed my bitch fest! Have a good weekend!!

Holy chip! You are brand spanking new and have a four hundred plus mile run. Count yourself lucky. Where are you pulling from and are they hiring?

Why not go into management? With your experience previously and with what you are gaining now , maybe you would be an excellent FOS or FOM.

Most of the trips peer traffic! Not much over 350 round trip. I'm leaving where my center anonymous.

I understand that I could be a even better FOS or FOM but I'm not interested in that at this point of my life. Maybe in 20 years and I'm to fat to drive lol. Jk im not gonna get fat! I'm 28 and I enjoy what I'm doing now just not for who. I could drive for a pervious company I was a manager at and love my job and where I do it. Just need my 1 year in and like I said I'm gone! We have 2 FOS at my center who were drivers and they are actually thee worst of the FOS's!

These Cascadias are not much better than the Sterlings. Since they refuse to fix anything now a days. Actually, I enjoy the Sterlings, no lane departure or assisted cruise control screaming at you, plus less blinding lights on the dash.

The sterling just show how cheep con-way was back then and how much they thought of there driver. I not saving the Freightliners are any better but atleast they have a radio in them.

The Sterlings when they first arrived at Con-Job were looked at like a Cadillac by the drivers. Still have my radio box with a CB mounted somewhere in the garage. How times have changed.

If you go management here be prepared to work sixteen hours a day and make peanuts.

Like I said it just shows what the con-way thought of the drivers. I remember back when I work for AF late 90 earlier 2000 our linehaul truck all had A/C and radios and as the city truck were replaced they had the same. I remember the CCX driver in my area show up to a stop with a new truck and I asked if it had A/C and he pointed to the fan on the dash

I'm going to venture that he's in the center to western part of the country..teehehehe.

I didn't mind the later model Sterlings with the 10 speeds. As one poster said, less electronics and whatnot. The older CCX/CWX 7 speeds are absolute trash. Nothing like having to swap one out and having to pull a 40K set across a mountain pass.

Which one would want to drive. The FedEx truck is a rebranded AF Truck

If you look you can see the high tech A/C mounted on the dash. Lso take notice of the date that the pic was taken

That is all we have is the 7 speeds since we have long runs it seems like we are actually getting more and more of them. I'm not saying the freightliners are great but defiantly feel a little more safer in them. I really thought xpo would have better exp! I know when I was at Fedex and old dominion no truck was more then 2 years old! Just shows how much xpo cares. Also I should of said a positive thing or two the handhelds are well more advanced then any other company I've been at on a nother negative them pay sheets are just Pier ridiculous

XPO bought a dying LTL company tons of EQ that was out dated, the old handheld were outdate when they put them in-service. XPO has been playing catch up on everything. We use to have 5 city sterling in our yard and now we only have 1. Also every linehaul driver is driving a Freightliner that was not true 2yrs ago when XPO bough Con-way. The oldest truck in our yard is that city sterling which is a 2004 after that everything else is 2008 or newer. I do thing that city sterling will be keep on the road until a major mechineal issue come up the it to the bone yard.

I laugh when I see the new guys complaining about trucks. When I started, Conway bought all trucks with no air conditioning, no power steering, no radios, hand cranks to roll windows up and down. I didnt get an air conditioned truck till i had 22 years in. Quit your whining about trucks, you got it made.

Uphill both ways in the snow. Yeah, yeah. Things were different years ago. He is comparing apples to apples. What it's like to work here right now versus a competitor right now. I am shocked he even took the job. Our reputation is awful. He isn't experiencing anything everyone else hasn't. I will say this, it's because our working conditions are so poor that you will have zero trouble getting hired on anywhere else.
