Any barns out there still having handheld problems? Mine crashes around six times per day. My ‘favorite’ one is when it crashes as I’m logging out. So basically I have to log back in to log out!
 
Document every time it crashes. Keep a journal & how much time it took to get the system back up & running so you could continue. Noting everyday delays will go a long way in protecting you from the boss. Make the boss & their equipment look bad. von.
 
He's right. Your boss’s production numbers will suffer if you have to waste time daily reacting to faulty equipment.

And the neat thing is that the equipment is “documenting” it’s own crashes, and how much of your time it’s wasting.....

Funny thing is, the boss is just as frustrated as we are. I’m having a hard time believing that a company this size doesn’t have an IT department that’s worth a crap.
 
During my 18 years @ ABF, every single time they rolled out new Hardware they had issues right off the bat. Cheap battery's on the roll out that were replaced with higher capacity ones. And the software. That was written by ABF's IT department. Took them about 3 months every time to fix all software issues. Which in the IT world is normal. But, when you the IT department write the software yourself & use it every day one would think you would have it right the first time. I can see the occasional update, but every day crashes should not have been normal. von.
