I’ll have to respectfully disagree with both of you, no one is talking about tractors or runs/bids, we’re only talking about vacation...apples and oranges. As for part time employees, that should be a different vacation board just as different job classes function.
I can’t speak for the city but the road in CLT does bid our entire vacation that will be earned for that year during the first go round but we can only bid two weeks max during the “prime” months, that way everyone will get at least one week during the “prime” vacaction months. The second round is for banked vacation and third round is single days.
I’ll again disagree with the one board scenario that you and others suggested since job classes function in different manners. Every job class having their own vacaction board works the best IMO although vacation only should go by company seniority, not job class.
NOTE: “prime” months in CLT are March and May through the first week or so in Sept. It’s been said that mid Oct through mid Dec may be added as “prime” months due to so many wanting off for hunting season.
