XPO | Truck washing

Not sure why you are still here. If you think you are underpaid and driving trashy trucks go find a better job. No one is making you stay. I am linehaul. Run is 490 miles. Plenty of dock time and via's. Money is great and i keep my own truck clean. If you choose to stay here, and it is your choice, quit your bich_en and do what you can can to make a better workplace environment.
Just out of curiosity do you base “ money is great “ on a standard 40 hour work week? Or 70 hour nearly double the standard work week.
My hats off to you guys that work that many hours . You must feel like you have no free time to do anything or spend time with your family that’s a big sacrifice .

Through my resignation letter away this morning my Wife got wind of it. Darn

Did you miss the part were he said he was LH. I don't know any LH driver that work 40hr per week. He stated he runs a 490 mile trip with dock time and some via's. If you break out the calculator and take 2,450 miles an average dock time of 2hr/night or 10hr per week, and drop and hook time of 20mins per event 3 times a night or 5hrs per week you get a gross check of $1,935.30 per week or just over 100k per year.
Now I am wanting to know what union LH driver works only 40hrs per week

I’m aware he was linehaul . You can make 100,000 a year but you have to realize you are working 70 hrs a week for that. The average full time Job is based on a 37 1/2 to 40 hour week. Many of my friends and family work in the 40 hour a week period ( outside of trucking ) and make that kind of money. Nothing wrong with 100,000 a year job driving but you have to look at the hours you spend working to achieve that . If your working the equivalent of two full time jobs than you have to keep that in prospective it’s not as great of money than you think. Thinking you just misunderstood my point
Again I’m not :shit:ting on the original posters earnings and I’m sure he works very hard for that all I’m saying is when you make that time sacrifice 70hr /week the reward/ return is not a grand as it should be.

Well hate to say but maybe years ago you should have gotten into a different line of work. I been in trucking for 25+ years and the only 40hr a week paycheck I ever got was when I took a weeks vacation. If you want to compare my neighbor work 40hrs a week has a college degree and makes less I do if I worked 40hrs a week

Running linehaul is a hard way of life. It takes skill, patience and physical fortitude to navigate a set of trailers down the road in all sorts of conditions. My college graduate friends for the most part couldn’t survive a week let alone a day doing it nor could most of our executive team. The linehaul drivers should reap the reward of the jobs and i think they deserve more. In my opion and 100 k a year job for working 70 hrs is pushing it. That amount in today’s world is not the same as it was 20 yrs ago .

I get about 20 minutes with the wife every morning. Then I have around 45 minutes when I get up, before I am off to work. The weekend is mostly spent hibernating. I usually get life's chores done Saturday and Monday morning. This is not a life for the faint of heart. You'll make good money. But every moment of your time is dedicated to something and there is no time to catch up if you get sick or sleep in.

Even when I am on a city bid I don't ever work a 40 hour week. You'd have to call off one day, at least, to make that happen.

Just wait until whenever the " platooning " starts. How many sets will one driver be responsible for ? Will he get paid any extra for that additional responsibility ? And if you usually send 4 drivers to an FAC and now you send one with 3 platoon rigs in tow.... is that guy responsible for loading all 8 trailers coming home ? And sure, he might have a couple yard loads. But dammit. And then what if there is a via ? Well, you are the only driver. So now you are doing a via with 3 sets following you around. And what if it's bad weather. You make it up the hill no problem but, one of the sets has a tail loaded trailer and looses traction half way up and is just sitting there spinning. What do you do ? I'm sure them college boys just shrug, ain't their problem.

Amen brother my hats off to you and the other guys who do it . It’s a hard life full of sacrifices. Truly believe you guys deserve every bit you earn and more no strings attached.

Wow. Ya need a life like Jack Reacher. No phone, no permanent address & no personal car or truck. No credit cards, change of clothes, etc. But hey he does have toothbrush. Just a thumb away from a ride. von.

Sounds exactly like my schedule, except now my wife is thinking about working full time which would eliminate our morning time together. It sucks for sure, and not all linehaul drivers make 100k as some think. Our longest run is 326 miles round trip. I’m not crying, the money is good, but it does vary.

Though I would rather live like this then sleeping in the truck at some trashy truck stop or at a flea bag motel. Paying through the nose for crappy food waiting in line for a shower and then having a refer park next to me all night running while I'm trying to sleep I guess for some reason I like my bed, TV, and shower.
