XPO | Slipping bars

I think your right on the mark with this and I have been saying the same for years. There never seems to be a shortage of drivers that feel the need to pick up on responsibilities that should be part of managements duties. It does cause confusion when drivers are involved and privy to information and procedures that should only be handled by management. Concerns that are personal and involve disciplinary nature should be confidential.
Management has awareness of policy and practices ethics ( or their suppose to) that should be followed. When a driver is involved let’s say for example: drivecame viewing and coaching events they are note trained or aware of confidentiality practices.
When you take a driver from his or her core responsibility you diminish the driver pool and not only do his or her coworkers have to jump in to fill the void our customers also suffer in lack of service.
Obviously this did not start with Xpo . I think it serves to purposes allows the company to run with fewer management employees and yes it does blur the lines by design between management and drivers.
You got one of those too. He knows everything. He like the TM sounding board.

That what you get when Paul Burgs office was at your barn.
This is a prime example of how Jacob's cut our OR out of the 90's. From what I heard the Lean Team at HQ had a sit down and explained what lean was and what they did. The a few days latter the program was cut and I think some were let go. I said from the beginning this was a big waste of time and money. There were many barn like your that paid guy OT just to walk around paint and score and push a trash can into a circle. I have been to the barns that were doing this and laugh. The funniest one was when I saw the FOS desk on the dock have little squares on it for the mouse, stapler, keyboard, and monitor.
I do remember how big of a deal when one of the barn in NJ got the bronze level award for simply putting items in a painted circle AKA put back were it belongs.
Your right on the mark with that. Very frustrating time for us and very costly. Like I said I’m definitely a skeptic when it comes to Jacobs but he did right when he eliminated that program.
Funny we been through a lot of bs over the years , I remember when all the executives and there families went down to Florida to get trained by Disney on how to be a “world class” company and when they returned put out a memo stating they would be announcing the biggest news in company history and had us all sitting on the edge of ours seats only to announce at a special breakfast meeting(remember them?) that Disney showed them the way to do it.
Also the Six Sigma thing .... don’t forget that one and their special belts

Oh man .

If the company would have focused on its core strength and business at the time and forgot about the lean experiment I think we could have possibly avoided the Xpo buyout. Lean was all a part of the “company jumping the shark”
We had a solid reputation that would have been a good cornerstone to build again

That period was so frustrating for me and others. The TM at the time had all the brown noses running around for a couple years doing all but their core job of driving. We went short on drivers every day while those guys ran around painting Lines, and labeling everything. Customer service suffered and we had to pick up the slack . In the end the 3 City drivers who never went out on runs .. just stayed in painting and labeling earned over 80 k + each and got a free lunch everyday. What a crock. Lean accomplished nothing !!! We said when it was implemented it wouldn’t last a year . We were wrong it unfortunately lasted 2 before Xpo pulled the plug on it. Gotta give Jacobs the credit for that.
That is crazy. We had guys come in early, but never skipped doing their run.

What you don't understand is the regional VP Paul B office was at that barn and thanks to the Philly driver voting yes he is no long using that office aka not working here anymore. There no love loss here most at my barn didn't like him either.
