FedEx Freight | Vacation senority

Just because it would help some people such as yourself who have changed departments doesn't mean its right for all. Cherry picking just the vacation policy as company seniority when everything else is department seniority ain't right either. Just sayin....
It’s not about me (although everything is really about me :1036316054:), it’s about doing what’s right. We accrue vacation by company seniority, it should be bid by company seniority.
Not cherry picking as you claim, the topic is “vacation seniority” and I’m just trying to stay on topic. Feel free to start a new thread for the other topics and we can discuss those as well.

There was a time when Truck assignment went strictly by Company Seniority. I'm told that has long since changed, and is dependent on the bid, which is dependent on job class seniority... Things can and do change.
Yep, at one point and time new tractors were handed out by company seniority...I got two brand new road trucks before they went to assigning trucks to bids.

Don't know if I've mentioned this story before, but it's kind of interesting...

When I first started, there was a guy working the dock. Full time. After about 2 years, he began driving, and soon got a new truck. What I didn't know (until then), he was a very senior driver who'd had a DUI conviction. He'd been allowed to stay on, as a dock worker, until his license was good again. After however many years (3, 5, ?), he went back to driving, company seniority, new truck, and all. I thought that was pretty cool.

Might this scenario go down the same way today? It could, with the return of the full time dock position. I'm just not sure it would.:idunno:

I should also point out, this was a time when company picnics came with kegs of beer...

Had the same at my center when I first started years ago and the guy was allowed to work dock. But I think now the policy is if you are convicted of DUI you are terminated

You know, if company seniority is that important to you, I’m sure you could find a union company with that in their contract.
:poke:

Funny you mention this, during the beginning of the whole union movement in CLT I was approached by someone asking for my support. The issue of company seniority was brought up and their response was “no, first we want to get the union in and then we’ll see what we can get later.” Kinda reminded me of Nancy Pelosi’s famous comment about Obamacare...”we must first pass the bill before we see what’s in it”, and we all see how Obamacare turned out!!

Everything is just fine

Vaction, bids, tractors, who's first under

Are you advocating doing time under the SCM's desk? Or are you saying put in your time on the street driving? Just curious what you're telling us to do....

Just wondering what you all think if vacation should be by company seniority or road or city board senority?? As far as i know company seniority is only good far layoffs or if transferring when during a reconfiguration..
Current policy says vacations are bid by job class seniority. Company seniority is only used as a tie breaker... After the bid process is complete, it's first come, first served.
