XPO | 2018 Bids

They've announced some sort of hard line policy on cut times so often that when they do it now I just laugh. They can't cut the freight off AND sell service times. They know it, and more importantly the customer knows it.

They forced some city guys out on line haul this week. Short handed with all the senior guys out. When is the cut off time ? Are we really waiting on this trailer ? The particular trailer in question had an eta of 03:15. Yeah, bud. We waiting on that. And the ones due at 05:00 too. !!!???!!! WHAT !!!???!!!

Ride that wave ! Hell, yes ! Got me a little boogie board. We will make the best of it until we hit the rough and sandy part.

85% still in effect here. 130 some drivers and it's almost exactly 85%.
The problem for me is we have less drivers then when I started and I’m not really moving up the linehaul board. We had one city driver come to linehaul and we are starting 2018 with one less linehaul bid. That puts me at number 8 of 9 until March when another linehaul driver retires. I’ll move up one, if his bid is replaced. It is what it is.

Some things never change.

It seems really messed up that bids get subtracted for the city P&D because cut times are not enforced or taken seriously at the origin service centers. Also cut times at FACs not enforced/non existent.

Sooooo , instead of fixing the problems with linehaul , the FACs , and at the origin service centers , XPO pushes back the start times of P&D to wait for the freight which SHOULD be at the destination service centers already.

Circle of life. Pushing back P&D start times only makes things worse. And the problems are well known by management yet no one seems able to fix them. I guess it's easier to do something wrong than to work and do something right that fixes the problems.
Do you guys still do that goofy-ass ‘matrix’ JSP thing like Conway did? That thing always cracked me up! Honestly, is there actually a 1:30am start time ANYWHERE?

Yes - at least the terminals in my area do. Reason being is just in case , that way there's no asking , it's already on paper what you want if you have to add a 2:30 or 1:30am start time.

Yes and it is the stupidest bidding system I have ever seen. I worked in place that had more driver and bided in less than a week. When you went in to bid you knew what was aviable and knew what you got when you walk out of the TM office.

As this past week started the bids the TM had to have the cleaning crew hanging around with a mop and bucket to clean up all the tears that are spilled. I is also that time of year to hear the threats like we did last year and in the end they all punch the clock come Jan 18

I am in a big barn and it's the same story. They have closed FACs and cut the number of runs. When I am on line haul I am a bottom feeder. Last man almost every night. And I can't hold ::shit:: for a run. I could bid our shortest run number one and be top guy. If we run it. They cut it so much because it can be picked off. And what's the point in being number one of one if they do send one ? Might as well run long and chase the money. Where ever you land.

It's not threats any more. Guys are leaving if they can't hold what they want. Guys are retiring. System wide we are losing drivers at an amazing clip. Years ago, it would have been the sky is falling ! Post XPO, it's just the new normal. A lot of people leaving. Drivers, management and shop.

Hell ther not worried about people leaving. They really think them driverless trucks are gonna bail them out.
I’m not saying never but their selling stock with propagating that route. Jacobs is a master at selling ideas . Yes someday there will be autominized trucks no doubt but his prediction in my opinion is a little optimistic. If you feel threatened by his outlook on this he has you right where he wants you scared and not to expect more because your soon to be replaced.
If your a prospective investor you see it as “wow” if you can move freight without drivers I’m investing in your company.

Drivers start times are being pushed back company wide. Expect 30-60 minute push back. If it hasn’t happened yet it will soon. 10am start time for p&d... hey why didn’t you get that 1500 pick up.
