How are things run out of here? Is the pay about the same as all other spots? How do days off typically work?
My foray into the Albuquerque terminal was cut short after the TM there decided to hire in-company transfers instead of the few of us that applied off the street. Now the listings for all the driving jobs on the OD site for NM are gone. However, plenty of openings still seem to be available for CO and other areas as usual.
Was trying hard to not have to relocate out of state again. But seeing as how there's no end in sight to the garbage I'm wading through in the dairy pickup scheme, relocation/evac seems to be an inevitable reality once again.

I’m not familiar with Denver but seeing as how you’re open to relocation you might want to consider Dallas. Extra board makes about $100k/yr. Cost of living is relatively low with no state income tax. Fewer weather issues in the winter too.

I've thought about it and see plenty of work for everything in that area. But I may or may not have a stigma against becoming labeled as a "Texan". I'm still going to give the oil-field's down in SE New Mexico some thought as well. Evidently, any daycab option will be thrown on the table seeing as how my current company keeps losing dairies and can't pay for different jobs evenly.
$40 to get a tanker unloaded at a powdered milk facility and the whole process taking 4-6 hours is garbage.

I would of been gone along time ago. I drove milk tanker for Shamrock Farms in Arizona. Great pay, benefits just OD paid more.

Yeah. I'm finding the dairy pickup thing to be rather limiting. A whole lot of hard work for not that much pay. Of course I should've left when there were more people here. With as many drivers/loaders that have left Indian River in the past month, my leaving would probably resonate like a fart in a church!!

Hogs, Harley’s or slopping the hogs? Yes on both. Besides according to Billy I am a fat, lazy, line driving pig.

I never once called you that, I just pinpointed a heavier set driver with lots of facial hair that I seen one time texting away with his triples in tow in Eugene at 3 in the afternoon. Thought to myself, if it's anyone must've been you because he looks like he'd talk the same way you do.

Fly, are your words muffled through facial hair??

Billy I just like being sarcastic. No that wouldn’t be me. I’m way down south at that time. Besides I don’t have facial hair. I don’t text on my phone expect through SIRI. Hands free. Especially Eugene. The Cycle patrol there I don’t toy with.

Sob’s are every where last time I drove through this summer.

They hide by the pillar on the last overpass before the Whilamut bridge. There’s construction crap right there it’s hard to see them. Also the local Coburg cop, he loves pulling over trucks.

Well, this thread got weird and personal pretty quick!!
Anywho, the $100k possibility sounds just about good enough to relocate for. But let me ask another question:
Are the hours spent doing linehaul with OD for this amount as tedious as the money earned hauling crude?
I was called up by an XCalibur Logistics this morning for SE NM oil hauling. The $1500-2500/week sounded good. But what's really biting me is having to endure 16 hours on the clock each day/night.
Meanwhile, linehaul seems to follow typical, FMCSA regs and two days off a week.
I want to work, but don't exactly want to get whooped.

First off, you’ll probably go on the wild board. I’ve seen some Terminal’s run different. Ours is first in first out. Top of the wild board when a bid comes up for whatever reason, it’s offered to you. A lot of night running. If you’re lucky enough to cover vacations then you have a consistent schedule for a week. My bid if everything goes good, I turn it 12.5 hours. Hopefully this helps.

I can only speak of the Dallas extraboard. Most of us work 6 days then take either a 34 or 48 hour reset. We mostly run turns with 10 hours off before going back on call. Some are short in the area of 400 miles but most are in the 500 to 650 mile range with the longest being Lubbock at 694 miles. So most of the time it’s a 10 to 12 hour day.

Well, at least it's 10-12 hours actually making money. Right now, Indian River only pays $65/unload when a load is delivered to the cheeseplant, and $40/unload when delivered to DFA Portales. The cheeseplant usually takes about an hour or two at most, allowing 3-5 of these to be done a night.
Meanwhile the DFA powdered milk plant takes 4-6 hours to unload a tank.
Whole lot of waiting, not a whole lot of money. And the dispatcher is getting on my last nerve about not wanting me to quit.

I'll talk to these guys in the morning and see what needs to be done. I might just put all my goods in storage, or my dad's house in CA, and then just live at the motel.
