Hey. Like the little sign on the trailer door says....-15% $$$$ , you get what you pay for when hiring !!!
I had heard a couple years ago Columbus was hiring out of school, but I don't know if that was actually true. I do know that they hired at least 1 driver with only 3 months experience. We were picking up at the same customer and he bragged to me that membership in the union would entitle him to cuss out his dispatcher without consequences. I said "...oookayyy." He wasn't the brightest bulb.
I know he wasn't lying, I just thought it was an odd thing to brag about. It is sad that's the main benefit of the union someone sold the kid on. A corrosive culture like that will only continue to bring Holland down. And whoever is teaching him about the union is doing him, the company, and the union a disservice. He may not be the brightest, but he was not lying to you, I've seen this happen many times.

Guy in Columbus did me like that on homeloac violation. Telling me to get with my steward and 6 hour penalty. I was trying to tell him I knew how to handle it, but he cut me off and kept going. Friend of mine came over and told him I am the steward and former BA. Should’ve seen his mouth drop and he asked me how old I was, I winked and told him 32.I still get comments system wide about how I look young and get asked how long I’ve been doing it.
I just say “luckily I haven’t run into anything yet, cause I don’t really know what I’m doing.”
The looks I get are nice.
