1971 Ford F150

I owned a Ford once, tried to sell it, couldn't find any takers
I parked it on a hill beside our old wooden outhouse, left the keys in it
came back next day, out outhouse was gone, Ford was still there.

never in a million years would i pay that much (that ABF'er linked to) for an OLD used truck. that price alone is a great downpayment on a MUCH newer one, coming off a lease as only one example, WITH a full factory warranty to boot.

although i haven't the "funds" for any truck right now, i still "window shop" for a good used one, and the pricing simply floors me. even for as in my situation, all i'd need is quick transport to the local home improvement store and back, i'd never pay over $3,000 for a truck as old as (say) a 1995.

but then too many times used trucks as old as what ABF'er linked too, HAS been used and abused, no matter what the original or 27th owner claim.

i also need not all the gadgets and gizmo's of todays modern truck, just a plain basic work truck, and a simple regular cab over say a extended cab or crew cab.

but those are not that easy to find, even the local dealerships when i see a regular cab, they have a lousy V-6 under the hood.

used trucks (to me) are simply not a bargain when they are as old as the link, unless it is for "free to a good home", then stick one's thumb up his butt, that the frame is not rotted away, or bent out of whack, or the engine isn't going to fall out, once driven off the property.

of course all it takes is one HUGE lottery win......and that shiny new all decked out $80,000 Ford F-350, with a diesel, and here i come..>!!!!!!!
Still driving my old 2004 Ext Silverado Z has all the bells and whistles, just turned 84000 mi, bought it new
I have 21 more payments at $595 and a balloon note for $4600 and it will be all mine
Any one know where I can find a set of recaped tires? Used will be better

A neighbor has a 72 F-250 4X4 very original but very used. Lived a lot of it's life on a farm. It is a "Highboy" model. A Ford guy who does restorations tried to get him to do a restoration but the neighbor said he couldn't use it for a truck if he spent $20 K on it. His dad bought it new so there is a lot of sentimental value.

Whats up with the truck in the you tube you,on post number 65 Stimpy?
It says it is a 1973,yet it has a 1979 grill & headlights,I know this because I had a 79 Ford.
Also I wonder why he wants to sell it,& what he is asking for it,if you have that info.
Not that I'd want to buy it,just interested?

"USED TIRES" ARE DANGEROUS!!
RECAPPED ARE DANGEROUS!!
The easier softer way is not a solution.

Remember the old saying: "You can pay a little now or A LOT later"!

Where are you getting all your info?
Sounds like a gold mine of knowledge to me.

LIFE experiences! When I was in me 20's, I preferred "used" & RECAPPED tires, but I was also a drunkard and drove temporary beater cars.
You HAVE TO CHECK the information on ALL TIRES regarding manufacture month and year. Some shady tire shops have sold and will sell 4+ year old tires which are DANGEROUS/DEADLY!
HOW MUCH is your Life and Vehicle worth??
Remember: Tires wear out on the INSIDE before showing on outside.

Do a search for Tire Sidewall Information.

Some tire shops sell "used tires", some refuse to sell such tires.
Recaps are TEMPORARY tires and usually good as spare tires for limited use (like those doughnut tires).

I guess the company I drove for 35 yrs should do the research, they did their own recapping, we always ran caps on
drive, pusher and dolly axles.
Guess I was lucky, I got a 3 million mile safe driving award on those temporary doughnuts.

To date myself I ran retread "Cheater slicks" when I was a lad.
You mean the ones that were called pie cut had 2 grooves around them and the side walls were so stiff that one time I had a flat and didn't know it until it sucked the valve stem inside those naw I'm not that old either ,

When "Yall" were lads, they still ran hard rubber tires!

Oh, okay, I was thinking you were actually seeking some help with tires for your picky up truck, but that's fine, run recaps or used, your truck, your solution.

Nah, I was just carrying on a bunch of crap with you, I don't know if they still recap small tires I would never consider a cap.
Most truck tires that are capped today use a cold cap, called Bandag.
OO and DCM drove chain drive trucks, they're both about the same age as kerosene.
