YRCW still brings in billions if wasn’t for merger then recession profits would be thru the roof. Work rules didn’t bring them down.
Does anyone know or have a figure on how much money the union members will have lost over 10 years to YRCW? Is there a final total?

If there is a final total , is it fair to say the mergers and acquisitions were paid for by the union members?

He fails to realize cost of living rates outpaced pay raises.

No, I realize and agree that pay rates have not kept up with the cost of living. Most of the increases that we have received have been 1/2 of less of what that year's cost of living spike. We are not alone in that regard as many other industries have faced the same issue. The lifestyle that we used to maintain with a single household income not requires two household incomes. Sad but true. Increased taxes and huge increases in healthcare have taken it's toll as well.

As a person who hasn't spent the majority of his life in the LTL biz, I think many of the drivers I hear complaining over wages and benefits don't understand how much worse it could be for them in another profession because some of then haven't worked in other professions. Have things declined here? Yup. Have things declined outside of here? Yup also.

I do agree that things have declined across the board for the working class jobs but I always hesitate to use that as an excuse as to why are compensation has stagnated. If it makes you or other feel better that’s fine but It’s my opion I will not make excuses for corporations or become complacent. We are all in a prime position to advance our compensation not only here at Xpo but across the ltl industry. Some people here praise the free market and supply and demand theories , well if we’re talking supply and demand we as drivers are in demand and supply is at an all time low. That should mean one thing should happen anyone want to take a guess what it is?

Raises for our CEOs?

I'm not good at stuff.

Ups package will be approaching $ 40 an hour in the coming years with fully paid benefits and pension. They made no more than us years ago and they just kept gaining... we kept losing and the majority of them do not hold a class 3 license or hazmat endorsement . I don’t care how much harder you claim they work . We work hard also. Unacceptable that this industry has stagnated so long and we struggle to get to $30hr with crappy benefits and no retirement. No excuse for it.

Yet they still have a hard time getting and keeping drivers. That driver that don't need a class A with a TX endorsements. Plus you should here some of these drivers here at XPO bitch when they have one little inside delivery to make or the place doesn't have a dock. Lets see how hard do we really work? Do you figure print every delivery and pick? Do you inside delivery almost every delivery and pickup.

I know making 80- 90 grand a year seems like great money but you also have to realize your working the equivalent of two full jobs in total hours to obtain that amount. Your free time is also important . I’m mean no disrespect in saying this to guys who earn that amount. Things don’t have to be this way we hold the golden ticket right now.
Who's working that many hours. I'm working around an average of 60hr a week on LH. Some weeks more other less and I will be making almost 80K this year. If I work close to 70hrs every week I would be around 100k a year. As you know there no OT in the LH
My neighbors neither has any college degree both work full time and even do some OT when they can and both of them total will make around 90k this year. Oh and there job aren't the 9-5 type. My sister college degree and here husband with a trade skill both work full time and might break 100k this year.
I don't see your point on the equivalent of two full time jobs. I know driver that work between 60 and 70hrs a week and make less then I do, I also know some that make more then me.
I been in trucking over 25yrs and the only time I seen a 40hrs week was when there was a holiday during that week. This was both in union and non-union jobs

Benadryl hasn't kicked in yet. I did say equivalent to $45 per hour, as in real wages, adjusted for inflation. As in...if you made what they made back then in today's dollars, you'd be getting $45 per hour.

You wanted a more general scope? In 1980, the average trucker made 38k. If you made that today, adjusted for inflation, you'd make 111k.

This is widely known. I don't know HOW you're saying that the corporocracy known as end-stage capitalism in ANY way benefits us. Competition? Pffft. One phone call on the topic of collusion saves both companies a lot of money.

Stop acting like unions aren't useful. You're still getting screwed, but if truckload carriers are any indication, without the existence of unions, you'd be utterly and unconscionably screwed.
So why is a teamster driver paid less per hour then we are????? From what you are saying the teamster driver should be making what $45+ per hour??
Then please explain how the union let this happen?

The last I read is that YRCW is not paying it fair share into the teamster pension. If billion are coming in then why are they behind on the pension should the teamster hold there feet to the fire if they are bring in billions?

Also a lot of professions have been ship overseas

That's why we're getting paid less than drivers were prior to deregulation, and why real wages are a fraction of what they used to be. Some of that FAIR FREE MARKET COMPETITION! WOOHOO! Lolol neat story.
They were partly unable to compete because they were up against companies that were under pricing them . Where do you think that cost cutting came from ? It even says it in the article....just saying.
I tired of hearing the union types bitch about deregulation. The teamster are big supporters of the democratic party give them million and million of dollars every year. They say the democratic party is for the working man, but are they really? The democratic party were in control of the House, Senate, and the White House when the MCA 1980 was passed and sign into law. The bill introduced on Feb 01 1980 by the Democratic sponsor Howard Cannon from Nevada pass through both the House and Senate were the Democratic party held a majority in both with 57 Senators and 277 in the House. The bill was then signed into law by a Democratic President. Yet they still support the party that sold them down the river years ago and want you to do the same. This is the same party that believes in more regulation more govt control and in the end has driven companies to produce there products overseas.
This shows the real bigotry of the Teamsters. They have no interest in the working man and just became the same type of corporation that they once stood against

I can't speak for all union LTL drivers but I generally put in around 55 hours a week in linehaul and I'll hit $100k this year. P&D driver's make about the same.

I really bore of people making this a Democrat and Republican issue. There was really no way to make this conversation any more pedantic, but you managed.

The Democrats are bad, but the Republicans will charge you full of all those hard work beliefs while you look like an ******* in a MAGA hat... Meanwhile, they will charge you full price for the condom before they roll you over and stick it in dry.

But don't feel like I have warm and fuzzy feelings toward the Democrats, either. I vote third party. We are simply talking about your idiocy, currently.
