SAIA | Decision making day

Hey RAT, despite our differences in opinion I wish you and your family happy holidays.
Same to you Joe!!!! I will join you in retirement very soon. Plan on driving up to see Smoke if he's still game. Lots of traveling in my future. I may even stop by in your neck of the woods. I will keep you posted.

It's funny, because in some aspects Saia is way ahead of everybody in technology. Like the EIC website with the online dispatch listings. I don't know of any other company that offers a real time dispatch board that lets the driver see his trailers, his route, weights, Cube, etc. It's very Cutting Edge.

But then you look at the fact that we still run a paper dock, and carry around bills for all of our linehaul runs when we already have all the equipment in place to be a paperless company. We could literally quit sending Freight bills with the line haul drivers, quit using Freight bills on the dock, and could even quit using delivery receipts in the city if we had a decent handheld it would allow for an electronic signature. The only freight paper that is needed is when you have Hazmat you need a copy of the original bill. That's it.

Then you get into the fact that we run as400 as our operating system. I learned as400 back in the early 90s in computer class. It's so archaic that it's not even funny. Almost every decent company has went to web-based systems by now.

Then there's VNomics... Don't even get me started on what a worthless waste of money that was.
Can you even imagine how much money would be saved by only buying paper for hazmat loads?? Even if you still printed 20 copies for each pallet!!!

Before these cameras, I always seen myself retiring with this company and I always spoke highly and recommended people to apply but not anymore. I was suspended multiple days for having to run a red light because I couldn't stop in time without ending up in the intersection. I triggered the camera because I hit the brakes the brakes hard and attempted to stop but someone sitting in an office that has no idea what it takes to stop a fully loaded tractor trailer thought otherwise. I'm sure that's happened to most drivers. So now in the future and to save myself lost income and possibly my job, I shouldn't even make an attempt to stop. How is that safe driving? I never got into trucking to have someone looking over my shoulder and to tell me how to drive from an office. Or to have to worry every day if I'll still have a job or if I'll be getting suspended every time I end my shift. Who needs that headache? I'll take my loyalty, my 15+ years of safe driving, my clean CDL and my 0 CSA score and go where I'm trusted and valued.
Those stale green lights I just start slowing down and almost come to a complete stop if necessary. If that's what they want then that's what they will get. I now stop at stop signs two or three times and severely **** people off. With following distance. I just keep backing off until you can back no more.

Best you watch yourself,Saia just hired BillyLo to stalk you and report any infractions

You guys are bunch of wussies. Try running Wyoming for the next 2-3 months, -20 degrees with a wind chill of -40. BTW that's real funny stuff, othertruck.

You're not so tough Hero, try running Orlando to Miami next month on black ice, blizzard conditions snow axle deep to a ferris wheel and your AC quits.
try that sonnyboy.
You'll see how tuff we are!

That minus 4 degree mark circled in red does appear to be a man taking a crap. That's funny brother.

I had to look twice.

And stopping every half a mile on 27 or 50 for a red light....

How true
Back in the old B61 Mack days, I was following a Jax. driver through Ocala, he stopped for a red light, I pulled behind him
and sat and sat and sat, got out, walked up to see what was wrong, he was standing across the road, a swarm of bees had flew into his tractor, we stayed there about an hour till some guy came got the hive.
And he thinks Wyoming is tough.
