Well let the fireworks begin! I'm a firm believer that the A.M runs deserve more on the mile. My reasons being dealing with heavy traffic and it's no doubt more stressful. With all this technology in the tractors cameras, headways etc the A.M. drivers are no doubt under more stress than ever. And trust me we have several drivers that can be on days but bid nights just for the reasons. I will stay on the day side regardless. :smilies 19296::36::19:

BD, I don't know about your extra pay, I think your bonus is being allowed to sleep at night.
30 yrs. ago when traffic did not compare with todays, I always bid a midnight start, just for that reason, I was at the top of the board.

I will stay on the day side regardless.

Kind of funny, the irony.

Most industries offer a higher rate to 2nd/3rd shift workers. I've even touched on the topic (in the past) as it applies to day vs night road runs.

A 2 cent/mile difference might be a consideration when making a bid selection... There have never been any shortages of drivers willing to run day time runs.

Now, the suggestion of a premium rate payed for day work? Due to the nuisance of traffic and the effect of electronic monitoring systems?

The burden you bring up of daytime runs is certainly a consideration that will play into the decision making process, at bid time. But to expect a pay differential, in favor of day work? I wouldn't hold my breath.

Just a casual observation, from another lowly city driver... :duh:

Hope it matches your Dish network one. Otherwise, that's just tacky.

What sort of surveillance devices does FXF have?
My tractor has a forward facing camera mounted on the windshield. My ELD has a device remarkably similar to the camera in my iPhone facing me. Said device currently residing behind a poison sticker.
Hearing rumors that in addition to the forward facing cameras, the newest tractors have rearward facing cameras in the fender mirrors.

RC is obviously not aware of the methane detector in the driver's seat. Farts contribute to global warming, and as such are prohibited under the newest initiatives from the UN.

Cork'm up boys and girls!
