Sorry but the federal government had oversight the fund when it was 120% funded why should suffer for their :censored: up when we also were paying tax dollars for them to oversee it. Also if the butch Lewis act is passed it would be a loan the would be paid back at a 3% interest rate. Win win what it looks like to me.
Well who do you think will be paying those salaries of that newly created office in the treasury dept. Us the tax payers. As a tax pay why should the govt loan any money to a pension fund that is allowing a company to pay in only 25% of what they should and still owes from all the way back to 2009. YRCW pays up it pension debt and stay current with it's payment along with every other company paying into it then we can talk about a loan. Right now the pension is having a hard time pay out what it said it would pay to retirees. what makes you think they will have the money to pay a loan back.

Yeah, I know, couldn't stay away. I agree that ANYONE who worked under a pension promise is OWED that money. At some point, whether contractual or not, employees worked for a set wage, accepted, at least in part, with the expectation of a retirement fund. If companies or gov't institutions want to dissolve owed pensions, then mathematician up forgone wages, plus interest, plus assumed earnings on those lost wages. As far as the CSPF, there should be a solution via a combination of all IBT funds & proper fund management. Perhaps a small dues increase to supplement current payouts & future investments? Solidarity, right?

This is the biggest problem with a pension. It' NOT YOUR MONEY!!! It's just a promise. Unlike say a 401k which is your money and you can take it with you.
I'm also pretty sure most of the companies in the CSPF did not promised a pension. The union promised the pension. Last I know someone retired from a union company doesn't get there retirement check from the company do they.

We couldn’t stop Bill Zollars from the big merger of 5 companies into one.
We have a choice on concessions we’ve been over this before.
If my seniority is violated the contract ensures I’m compensated correctly amongst many other things feel free to view the agreements don’t take my word for it.
Please inform me on your protection against unjustified discipline. Hope not some company board and you by yourself.
You trust Wall Street with your 401k correct? How’d that do when the market crashed in last recession?
about as well as your pension fund did. With one difference my 401k is my money and mine only to do with what I please

I think it’s time to either lock the entire thread or start booting the people that can’t follow the rules. Outsiders have shown up and dragged the conversation down to really childish levels. Warnings were already given.

A bunch of children playing games. I am shocked it has lasted this long. I have been personally repeatedly banned for much less than what is going on in this thread right now.

Sounds like you threw jabs and the jabs were thrown back and you can’t run out the corner now. Enjoy your day

Lying or not telling the whole truth while dodging or completely refusing to address direct questions or past actions is your idea of throwing punches and landing jabs ? You serious ? You guys look like clowns. Running scared from everything. Reread some of this thread. Think, how will this sound to someone else when they read it. How will troubleman84 come across ? Reread it. Own your ::shit::.

If the brotherhood existed like you want us to believe it does, I’d think they’d want to make sure all of their brothers had a good retirement. I guess they don’t care.

If the union believed in unity membership wouldn't be at an all time low.

Show the world a union that puts the rank and file first and there will be 40-50% participation in this country.

The main question is do the Union and I mean any of them have any real power anymore. I remember back in the day what a union strike was a feared thing by any companies, now not so much. The last strike was back in 1994 and in the attached they say 22 companies were effected. http://articles.latimes.com/1994-04-07/news/mn-43292_1_trucking-firms How many of them are around today? I would like to ask those union member on this thread would the teamster ever strike again? I say no because the members have given back to YRCW twice. The union and it's member could not afford a strike, for one with most people are living paycheck to paycheck most wouldn't survive more than a week or two on that strike pay from the union. The other big problem is there are now more non-union carriers out there than union one. Would there be some service disruption yea sure but not that bad. I do believe that if the unions strike again it will be a CF all over again.
I do remember seeing video of these same teamster that want our money and votes standing outside our fences in 1994 calling us all kind of names. Boy how times have changed.
Now on the XPO side of thing would any of those barns that vote in the union walk out on strike??? Sucker666 would everyone at XPH walk out because these contract talks seem to be going no where.
Why are the Teamster doing a "March On The Boss" https://teamster.org/news/2017/11/teamsters-march-boss-demand-xpo-logistics-start-contract-talks and not demanding the member at that barn strike?
You all come on here and to our barns talking all tough and telling us we are fools but the whole time the company is making you all look like fools because how long has it been since the first place voted the union in. Oh and stop making excuses. Show us some balls and have these barns strike.

To your last part because the rest is irrelevant. Those drivers can’t strike until a contract is ratified. Yea the company will drag the process out as long as they can to hope the drivers give up. That’s where you see who has the balls or would you call your fellow coworkers weak? Good post your getting better.

I would ask that we keep any further comments specific to xpo. What happens at yellow is not our concern. This discussion should be about xpo union /non union debate, and I’m asking those who do not work here to stop dragging it sideways.

Thanks.

I read a post from another member in a different XPO thread regading our company's desire to offer our customers and economy service and they would do that by buying the Yellow/Roadway portion of YRC, giving the company access to the terminals and such to enable the new service. Question. If XPO bought out a portion of a company with unionized drivers, is XPO bound by law to honor the union contract struck with the previous company? Without researching it, I would say "No," but I want to hear from others on this.

The best answer is yes they have to abide by the contract, in certain asset only sales that can be avoided, but from what I have read ( and it's not a lot ) it's a very costly complex ordeal.

If you see econo freight flooding our system, it might be time to jump ship. I believe that is how CF went out.
