Estes | Hub vs Combo

Combo drivers, I believe, are expected to do city or line runs as needed.

Hub drivers usually have to work the dock.

Someone else will undoubtedly correct me if I'm wrong.

Hub drivers generally work the dock. Hub time doesn't count for anything except hub.

Combo works what is needed. You might run linehaul, city, hub, dock, jockey. Combo time is portable and can be used if you later decide to change categories.

There are merits to both. It depends on the terminal and your needs as to which is better.

Where do new hires go for orientation and how long is it?

When I started orientation was for about 4 hours and I had 2 days of road training. Paperwork is easy, just hard when going to the terminals because each terminal is setup differently and some have inspection check in lanes

Do you guys have navigation or directions into terminals?

Does anyone hang out as Combo? In my previous (union) career, I would bid swing driver for variety & first pick at top runs. Just curious if there's a downside I guess. Thanks
